Just a heads up to you Boilermakers it looks like this will take place during the 2019 and 2020 seasons. Its unsure what host site will be first but it was known Kansas would have a home and away with a Big Ten opponent over these two seasons, word from the athletic department is it will be Purdue. Looking forward to you guys coming down to Allen Fieldhouse if True. Rock Chalk and good luck the rest of the season. If I decide to make the trip to Purdue for the other game how is your home court atmosphere? Would it be worth the trip?

Thanks

Thanks for the heads up.

Generally one of the best in the Big Ten and for an opponent like Kansas it would be pretty crazy. Probably similar to when we hosted Villanova this season. I'd encourage you to come see it. If you do make the trip, don't worry about seating. I've sat everywhere in Mackey Arena and I've yet to find a bad seat so don't feel like you have to pay for lower level to appreciate the game.

Thanks for the heads up, its definitely on my radar. I have a good friend that is a tMichigan State alum and he things Purdue is the best place in the Big Ten to see a road game. I would also highly highly recommend going to AFH for the other game, its life changing when its your first time.

Had a brother in law that got his Masters at Kansas. Rented a house just a few blocks down from the Fieldhouse and was close enough that he would often sell parking in his front yard for games. I always intended to make it out there for a game when they lived there but regrettably I never did. I would have to make it a point to go if this happens.

Spoken like a true believer. Let me just say I'm too old to believe a visit to any arena would be "life changing".

This is good to hear and with CE as a frosh now and the incoming class I would guess we are looking at a strong team for both matchups.

I have no idea what our team would look like two years from now but I'm sure it will be talented. Hopefully two top 5 teams going at it

It's pretty unknown what Purdue will look like but I am happy with the base of players we have coming in next year. We won't be full of 5 stars like Kansas is every year.

Question for you. I was looking at the Kansas board the other day and there was a discussion on what 4/5 type seeds they don't want in their bracket and many fans listed Purdue and cited our size as a big match up concern.

Is inside depth a big red flag for Kansas this year?

Fantastic. I love scheduling games against elite opponents. Very well done Purdue!

In terms of depth, Kansas has always been loaded at the forward/center position. This year is the first time I can remember under Self where we don't have a consistent low post offensive presence. Losing Perry Ellis really hurt and even though Landen Lucas is very consistent and smart he just isn't as talented as guys we are used to having. We lost our All American freshman center to a broken wrist in December and we have a very talented sophomore forward in Bragg who has just not put it together yet. In past years its been the strength of the team but it certainly isn't this year.

In regards to Purdue vs Kansas matchup it would be very interesting as I think the two teams play polar opposite epically in the half court offense and getting up and down. We would certainly try to limit the touches Swanigan gets and try to get up and down the court as much as possible, track style like game. Purdue would have the advantage in size but I believe our guard play is much stronger then Purdues. The one trait both teams have in common is they both shoot the three well. Would be a great matchup indeed and I do see where Purdue could cause us some problems.

Mackey is a fantastic play to watch a game...designed with a good angle and no really bad seats. You will find bench seating for your ticket and see that it can get loud...expect close to 120 dbs. Self has played a few times there before leaving for Kansas. Here is an intro to a game this year for just an idea

Kansas has some cool traditional cheers that everyone knows and are really neat. Kkkkkkkkuuuuuu, rock chalk and such that we cannot match. I wish we had something comparable, but we don't. For sheer volume, you can't touch Mackey when it's rocking. The Mackey roof is a big dish that bounces the sound right down to the floor. If we can keep the game close, you will see what I mean. If you blow us out you'll think I made this up.

I look forward to this series. I have seen KU at the NCAAs a few times and my wife is an OU alum and have been to several of those matchups as well. Either the typical KU fans are a class act or I have been really fortunate. This could be my chance to visit the Phog.
