If I am not mistaken, Shoop was the highest paid assistant as an OC in the neighborhood of $400,000. Hudson was $350,000 or so. Minnesota ponied up $550,000 for the DC. As a position coach, I would bet that $253,000 is $20G higher than ours. We finally paid people under Hazell then maintained 2011 levels. Isn't Minnesota where we want to be? Firmly in the middle?

Minnesota: New defensive coordinator Jay Sawvel, who worked with the Gophers secondary last season, will earn $550,000 annually over the next two seasons, per Andy Greder. Sawvel made $253,000 as the secondary coach last season.

I really don't care how much we pay THIS coaching staff. Preferably as little as possible, so we can put some in the piggy bank for the buyout.

Shoop made $500k

I think Hudson was $450K

They were paid the fair and going rate. Don't think we were cheap here...just made the wrong hires.

Not so fast my friend... this from the J & C back in March 2015...

Purdue is paying a combined $150,000 more to its assistant football coaches in 2015 compared to last year.

Three assistants - Marcus Freeman (linebackers), Taver Johnson (secondary) and Gerad Parker (receivers) - each received raises totaling $120,000.

Freeman's salary increased from $150,000 to $200,000; Johnson received a $25,000 bump to $250,000 and Parker, who is also the program's recruiting coordinator, now makes $175,000 - a $45,000 increase.

New tight ends coach Terry Malone's base salary is $250,000, which is $30,000 more than former receivers coach Kevin Sherman's salary.

All total, Purdue is paying its nine assistant coaches $2.245 million, which remains near or at the bottom of the Big Ten.

The salary information was obtained from the university through an open records request by the Journal and Courier.

Per his contract, head coach Darrell Hazell received an annual $50,000 raise. Hazell's guaranteed income (not including bonuses) is $2.1 million in 2015.

John Shoop (offensive coordinator/quarterbacks): $400,000

Greg Hudson (defensive coordinator): $395,000

Taver Johnson (secondary): $250,000

Terry Malone (tight ends): $250,000

Jim Bridge (offensive line): $225,000

Rubin Carter (defensive line): $200,000

Marcus Freeman (linebackers): $200,000

Gerad Parker (receivers/recruiting coordinator): $175,000

Jafar Williams (running backs): $150,000

To be fair I need to look at how we fit with the full pool of money compared to others. If Minnesota is paying a few guys $100K then it evens out.

How pathetic that Hazz excepted any pay increase..........guaranted or not!!!!!!!!!!!Has to be laughing his azz off all the way to the bank........

To be fair, these guys may be getting a bump here or there, but if they had remotely ANY success, their salaries would probably a lot higher than they are now.

Three years of crappy football is not going to result in across the board, significant raises…nor should it.

Anyone know what DH's bowl bonuses are? Never mind, we would never have to consider thinking about that..but most Big Ten coaches get a sweet bonus for making the Rose or Playoff or any bowl at all.

Please tell me Haze didn't qualify for any bonuses the last 3 years.
