I have been on KHC for many years. I don't post a whole lot but appreciate a lot of the posts from those with long histories with Purdue. After reading posts today I have come to the conclusion that I have been looking at things completely wrong. I have been going thru life generally happy when I should just be depressed and spend my life bitching. I have been married for almost 30 years to my high school sweetheart. I have 3 great kids that I have thoroughly brainwashed to be Purdue fans in spite of none of them going to Purdue. I have my first grandchild arriving in less than 2 months. Ella Jane already has some Purdue gear she will be presented with immediately upon birth. I have a degree from Purdue University which is extremely highly regarded all over the country and I have a job that I still love to this day. This past football season I purchased season football tickets for the first time ever. I haven't in the past because I work most Saturdays. Now that my kids are older I purchased two of the $79 season tickets. My wife and I went to most of the games, and I shared tickets to the other games with my kids. We had such a good time in spite of a rough season in the win-lose column, that we were planning to get them again this fall. I would have loved to get to some basketball games, but that is harder to do with my schedule.
After reading posts today, I just need to rethink everything. Some obviously very smart people on this board are probably right. This class that has just signed will obviously just suck. There is no doubt. This class is ranked last, or 8th, or whatever and it is obvious before they ever step foot on campus they will just suck. Our football coaches that took over a program that was definitely in free fall. These coaches honestly should have had us in the Championship game after 2 years using the players that we all said were no good when the previous coaches were here. These new coaches should be able to just come in here and get all 5 star players right off the bat. It really isn't too much to ask. It is almost like they need to build the program up from scratch! That is just crazy! As for the basketball team, we definitely have had a rough patch missing out on some players and having a ridiculously young team for the last 3 years. That is on the coach more than anyone for sure. I was starting to get a little excited about the potential for this team the rest of the year and for the next few years because we finally seem to have some tough, smart, hard working players. The team has improved a lot this year and with a young team there is no reason to think it won't continue. As I said, I was starting to get excited, but screw it. The basketball team sucks, the coaches suck, and next year's recruits suck. Purdue should be in the Sweet 16 every year and anything short of that is a complete failure.
I am going to burn my Purdue diploma and burn all of my Purdue gear. I need to get my priorities straight. I think I am going to divorce my wife, disown my kids, and sell my business. I am going to become a THE Ohio State University football fan and a Duke basketball fan. These teams fit into what I really need to dedicate my whole life to. They wouldn't put up with losing a couple games a year. Losing is for LOSERS! I want to be a winner!
I apologize to anyone who wasted their time reading my rant. Following this board today has just really pissed me off. I realize the relatively few who dominate with their ridiculously negative posts are in the minority, but I sure wish the majority would post more. I am torn between either posting more positive posts myself or just staying away from this board. I don't know if these negative posters just like to be completely negative in general in their whole life or if this board is genuinely their whole life. The fact that they can't be anywhere to be found after a win I guess is a clue to their motives. Maybe I will only come to this board after wins in the future so I can read comments by people who love Purdue and love to share with others the joys of being Purdue fans. I know this is an opinion board so anyone can post whatever they want. And this post is my opinion.
