I feel like Izzo jinxed himself by this quote two days ago about players going home for winter break… “It used to be that somebody would get picked up for shoplifting...Now, they have so much NIL money they don’t have to worry about shoplifting. So the NIL people, you solved a problem,” Izzo said.
And then this happens to one of his players during Xmas break. Hope Fears can make a full recovery.

He’s home from the hospital. Bullet was lodged in femur. He is looking at 6-8 weeks of rehabilitation time off.
That’s good. Hope he can make a full recovery. Wonder if they’ll ever catch the actual shooter and know the real reason behind it all.
I have a very bad feeling someone at that party knows who the shooter was or that he knew exactly who he was shooting. Ask yourself, what kind of a shooter goes to a party at 4 am to shoot people? I suspect he had been to the party earlier that night.

Yep and society respects the shooters so much more for shooting someone! You can't make this up can you?
Shows the type of players that Izzo has been recruiting in the past to say that someone would get into something with the law during winter breaks, like shoplifting.

He said they were at a house party and a guy in a mask walked in and started shooting. He and a girl were hit. He found a towel to stop her bleeding until an ambulance arrived.
We can pass judgement on past players etc but based on information coming out, he wasn’t doing something nefarious.
I live in the U.S. I’ve lived in i. Illinois! I’ve walked the streets of East St. Louis at night. I’ve read a lot of police reports involving MSU athletes! I’ve seen a lot of drug deals go bad in southern Illinois in Herron and Carbondale. The shooting happened at 4 am at a party. I don’t blame him for the shooting . I’ve been to Joliet before. Our minister used to preach there. Where do you live?
So by your comments, why do you believe the shooter shot him? Are you incapable of drawing conclusions?

Don't know anything about this situation. The one thing I do know is that there is just way too much gun violence anymore.
Too much violence period...whether guns, clubs, hammers, playing knockout, inside schools...outside schools. What has changed in society to devalue life? It never used to be this way. I have my own thoughts, but this isn't the place for them...
I speculate and share my thoughts. Many others don’t. Is this the place to share those thoughts. Some would say no while others would say it’s ok. This board has bad mouthed many other msu players in the past and talked about their off court activities and behaviors. This board has talked about many other players on other teams and their off court behaviors. Was it right? Maybe. Maybe not.
I didn’t accuse Fears of anything or say he was in the wrong. Fears was not the shooter.
I’ve speculated on many subjects to the dismay of many. that is my nature and training. to speculate and draw conclusions and to also share those conclusions. . I realize my speculations annoys others. Calling people names annoys me.
I didn't share my real conclusions on this issue. I have a feeling the truth will be revealed soon.

Nothing good happens after midnight!
How many college kids are never up past midnight? Sure, it would have been great if he had made sure to be in bed by 11 the evening before, but I am not going to use this situation as a reason to blame Fears for getting shot. I’m not saying that he made all good choices, but I am saying that I don’t know what choices he made and I am going to avoid making judgements for a situation that I know so little about. Instead, I wish him a complete recovery and hope to see him competing for MSU in the future.
On a positive point of view. This is a story I believe. It was said he was at a party at a friend’s house. The party had 35-40 people attending. As part of the story, it was said he was one of 6/8 people left that were cleaning up after the party had concluded when the shooter entered the house. He was not drunk! He was not the shooter! He was just helping out his friend. It’s like he was the designated driver! He was one of the good guys as was his girlfriend who was also shot.
