Jamari Brown no Longer with the Program

Not to be a dick, but this is good news. Good to know he got buried on the depth chart

was he getting beat out that bad? AJ Brathwaite from Arkansas is available for 1 yr but who knows if anyone will be brought in this late

They got a whole bunch of transfers in the back field. Guessing the writing must be on the wall after a few weeks of practice. What can they do at this point in the year? He's a 6th year senior NOW.

Let's be real, he was not a good CB. He looked good in the uniform but that's about it. Was it Tiller who made the "look like Tarzan play like Jane" comment? Lol

I'm taking this as a positive regarding the new guys.

At this point use the scholarship to reward a walk-on. Did Downing ever get one?
There’s still that TE from Ohio that hasn’t committed yet. CB says LSU but I read somewhere he was down to Purdue and UCF.
Trayvion Galloway. 4*

I watched him get away with multiple PIs and holds right in front of me at ND a couple years ago. Definitely from the “they can’t call all of them” school.

Hard to believe one can enter the transfer portal this late in the season. Are there any rules for this?

Yeah. Gotta think this is sour grapes on maybe being the 3rd or 4th guy and he’s pulling the rip cord to go play at a MAC or even FCS school where he can start immediately with only 2 weeks with a team.

And what does that say about recruiting and player development? I never want to be down on Brohm and the system, he did what few other (if any) coaches at Purdue have ever done. But it does make you wonder.

Not gunna crap on Brohm or unnecessarily. We shad several personnel issues with depth/recruiting etc. here but overall he got more out of the talent than they showed on paper IMO.

We always knew we had depth issues and did our best to cover them. It was no secret that CB m/DB overall was not a strong position of ours while he was here. That said, I think Our DL, WRs, QBs and TEs were better than the average while he was here. Coaches have strong suits of the talent that flocks to them and their systems. We seem to be fine in DL and DB talent under this coach. Find another LB or two and we should be kicking for agile on D.

Again, not going to crap on Brohm for bringing us out of some dark dark days of the program and basically having almost immediate success while here.

Agreed, but ,flirting with UofL didn't help our recruiting thus killed chances of building depth.

Tom was a guest on the local radio show today and did indeed mention Brown being frustrated with portal players passing him on the depth chart.
Also mentioned that Thieneman will start at safety and that Heldt will be in the rotation at edge.
Boiler Up. 🚂

Seems to me that you can either get frustrated that others are beating you out in the depth charts and run from it. Or, step up to the challenge and push yourself to improve.
I'm not saying this was the case for Mr. Brown but some kids want everything handed to them and don't want to work for it. Character building is made by overcoming challenges but I do wish all young people the very best on the road they choose.

That’s a good thing , since Brown started last year, but got passed over , that’s a good sign the new players are better than what Purdue had!
