Saw it announced yesterday that Jaren Jackson is leaving Park Tudor for LaLumiere...admittedly disappointed by that, as it will keep him from playing for the Indiana All-Stars and eliminates him from consideration for Mr. Basketball...and it likely makes things a bit more difficult with respect to his recruitment by Purdue.

It will be interesting to see what happens now that he is leaving with respect to the situation.

With the coaching situation at PT, not really unexpected. What a mess

I am amazed at how little the Mr. BB award and being on the All-Star team means to kids these days. It used to be every Indiana high school player's dream. Now the top players are looking past it to the NBA.

Don't disagree, but at the same time, not as if he was at PT or staying at PT for Cox. This is a genuine basketball decision, and, it makes it easier for a kid to decide to go out of state opposed to stay home...or feel pressure to stay home. In his case, I am surprised that f he was going to leave PT for a virtual prep school, that he chose LaLumiere opposed to one of the well-known institutions out east...especially if he ultimately wishes to play out east as has been rumored.

I think it stems in part from class basketball...as well as the fact that so many of the state's best players leave the state now for college...far different than how it used to be, and certainly far different with respect to what it means to kids any longer unfortunately.

Does this hurt, help, or have no effect on Purdue's chances of getting Jackson, Jr.? That I know of, Purdue has signed three players who played their final season at La Lumiere (Marcius in 2009 and Davis and Simpson in 2012). However, since they haven't signed anyone from there in four years, I think this has to be a little concerning. I think that some on here have previously stated that La Lumiere's coaching staff (or maybe AAU people that communicate with LL players) tries to steer players away from Purdue. Is that accurate or not?

I thought Purdue had a say in Davis and Simpson ending up at LL...but, Purdue has not been involved with LL seemingly since. It certainly does not help Purdue's chances...but don't know that it hurts them significantly...it makes it easier for other schools that are involved I think, and it makes it harder to see him and follow him in Purdue's case, not to mention his leaving home for his final year of HS basketball will make it easier for him to make that transition to leave and go east as has been rumored if he chooses to do so. I don't know that LL's staff tries to steer guys away from Purdue, but they certainly are not steering anyone to Purdue.

Adds an hour to Purdue's commute to see him, but reduces NDs by an hour and a half.

Has the coach at LaLu changed since '12? I can't remember his name. I went to one of their games that season and it certainly was no clinic.

I heard his mother got a job with the WNBA and the family will prolly be moving soon. She had been working for the NCAA the past couple years.

The family was transplanted to Indy so playing on the All-Star team or winning Mr Basketball prolly doesn't have the same value as kids born and raised here.

If true, it would seemingly lend more credence to the rumors that he is more interested in playing out East and another obstacle for Painter/Purdue, if not just a sign that they are not involved to the extent that has been suggested.

Alan Huss? I think he was the HC in '11-'12 but I believe he left La Lumiere the next season or before the '13-'14 season.

I vaguely remember hearing internet rumors about someone to do with lalu not being happy about the way the marcuis situation went down.

Painter is involved with a number of guys now. This is just one of them.

History shows me though in general as you see the number of new recruits Painter gets involved with that he is less involved with some of the others he recruited before......(new targets emerge as old targets fade). I have NO idea if that is the case here with this specific recruit, but I have noticed a few new recruiting targets lately.
