IU's Deron Davis out indefinitely with a "non-contact" leg injury...

Something fishy going on here. He has been catching 10 kinds of hell on their board for his poor play. My guess is he will be leaving IU sooner rather than later.

His play has been poor. He's from Denver and came to IU for Crean...he may leave IU!
His injury? If it's a fake, it's apparently a "fishyfake doctor-diagnosed torn achilles tendon." Photos of him in an electric wheelchair from other players are circulating.

I heard he was struck by a flying flower pot left over from a previous administration.

In fairness, Robbie Hummel showed us all (unfortunately) that non-contact leg injuries can be severe. Let's hope for the best for Davis and wish him a full and speedy recovery.

Having said that, it is also fair to say that he did not seem to be happy or playing well prior to this announcement. I would not be surprised if he did leave IU after this year.

Oh no, the great Tim Priller will be playing more against us it looks like. He seemed to play the game of his life against us last year.

If it is a genuine injury......... I hope the kid gets well soon. Of course, I still feel obligated to say I hate IU. There, all is right in the world again.

Hope the injury is not a serious one. Never want to see that, even from rival teams.

IU will be very lucky to go .500 on the season; how on earth Romeo is considering pkayijg for that dumpster fire is beyond me.
Next season could be worse for the trailer park; Looks like they jumped the gun possibly on Tommy

Sorry for Deron. Seems unlikely a kid would fake anything to me. If you want to go, go.
If I remember right, that leaves no center. Is there anyone on the roster over 6’7” not named Priller?

Clifton Moore. He is 6'11". He hasn't played much though. I would expect IU to go small with Morgan at the 5.

If he’s going to transfer, he should do it right now before 2nd semester starts, so he can play the 2nd semester of the 2018-19 season at his new school.

Just Moore and he won’t be playing much, if any, this year. Justin Smith got Davis’ minutes tonight and played really well but it’ll be small ball the rest of the year.

Is anyone else surprised with the lack of development from Priller? I really thought he would develop into a fan-favorite, mop-up, human-cigar kind of player, but he never plays. It has to be disappointing to Hoosier faithful.

That’s a tough row...
I know small ball is all the rage right now but I notice that not many teams have Golden states roster to make it work.;)
I saw that IU knocked off Minny, that’s a nice game.

Minny is not the same team losing Reggie Lynch, DPOY in big10. solid rebounder, scorer, and 4 blocks per game. Amir coffey, 14ppg. Still a road game and solid win.

Given IU’s situation it is a really good win. If I were a Hoosier fan I would want to see hard, smart play from players and a coach who benches those who do not get it. The wins and losses would not be important yet.
Not sure they are getting either.

^^This!^^
The talent level is not there yet for IU - especially given that they played that road game against a (depleted) Minny team without two of IU's top six players (Davis and Hartman).

What rationally matters to this IU fan is for Archie to instill a culture of hard-nosed competitors, and to completely implement an effective defensive philosophy. The talent starts to arrive in 2018, and hopefully it's talent that Archie has properly assessed to further a productive culture. Until then? find a few pieces that can be part of the future (hopefully Durham, Smith) and use the juniors and seniors that are buying in more and more consistently (Morgan, McRoberts, Johnson).

If IU can squeeze out 8-10 B1G wins while doing these things? The season will be an absolute success in pretty much every way, and the "less-bought-in" elements of the team will get the message that they are better off elsewhere.

It is the formula Purdue went with when Painter was transitioning in to power. That team lost a ton of games but you never felt like they played poorly or lacked effort. They just weren’t good enough to win.
Then the Baby Boilers arrived and instantly jumped up to be a darn good team, not just due to their talent but due to returning supporting cast that played hard and smart.
The questions to be answered by Archie are:
Can he get them playing the right way consistently?
Will he have sufficient positional balance to not have a glaring weakness in the next couple years?

Well...IU is an awful 3 point shooting team so it’ll be rough lol. It’s a good opportunity to get the young guys some game time and experience in Miller’s system though. I’m not too concerned with our record at this point; just hoping to see progress.

It was nice to see a road win up at Minny though, even if it was a depleted roster.

Done for the season. Had surgery on Achilles

I wish Davis a full recovery.

Injuries are really starting to take a toll on this B1G season--and there wasn't much cushion to begin with. It's not even the middle of January, and already Indiana, Maryland, and Minnesota appear to be significantly compromised with injuries. I know Minnesota has other problems, but losing Coffey is a big hit.

I am glad to see that there has been no gloating over the injury to Davis on this board. There has been a universal wish of speedy recovery to him.

That is classy behavior by the posters on this site and contrasts radically with the IU posters at the time of Hummel's injuries who laughed and were happy about it in their posts.

I wasn't on the board back then but I hope this isn't the case. Hummel was a great young man and player. Regardless of who you're a fan of nobody should wish injury on any player, especially achilles and knee injuries which are often the most painful and difficult to come back from.

Two thoughts come to my mind:
1) It's no doubt easier to be gracious when things are going well than when you're struggling. Purdue is hot right now, whereas Indiana was really struggling both years that Robbie went down.
2) I'm sure the memory of the Hummel injury has made at least some Purdue fans more sensitive to the topic.
