IU football history . . .

IU, historically, has the most losses of any P5 program in football. Is it any surprise their fans reverse their jackets to watch Notre Dame during fall?

In the last 23 football seasons, IU has had one winning season.
IU was 7-6 back in 2007 with Bill Lynch.
Talk about a pathetic football history.
Exactly.....they are probably the worst football program in NCAA history (maybe Rice and a few others can compete with them). That is why it was so embarrassing to lose to them 4 years in a row with our even more pathetic teams we put out there under CH. Hopefully, we have righted the ship and the universe is back in balance now.

I am convinced that Brohm is going to add a long sequence of "P"s to the chin on the Old Oaken Bucket, much to the chagrin of the IU faithful.

"The Way Too Early Top 25" ranking is proof that Purdue football has surpassed IU football in a very short time. While both have improved, Purdue's turnaround is larger and more dramatic that IU's under Allen. The Hoosiers are going to be very unhappy for quite a while.

I think that the same can be said about the basketball programs at each school. It is clear that Purdue's program has been better than IU's over the last few years. IU posters seem to think that they will have a better team next year than Purdue's team. Of course, that was said last year when Swanigan was leaving. Obviously, it was in error.

IU has had a history of getting more highly rated recruits. However, on-court results have not demonstrated that the difference in ratings has had significant impact on the W-L record. That is because the players develop better at Purdue making up the differences. The high ranking of this year(and the hopefully very good NCAA run) should make Purdue a much more attractive place for highly ranked recruits as they know that the coaching they receive will pay dividends going forward. While the loss of four important seniors will be felt, the step back is unlikely to be as severe as expected.

One other important analytic is the fact that since 1980 (38 years) Purdue has only had two head coaches while the Loosiers have been through at least 4-5 since then. Program stability, baby, program stability.

Gotcha.

Basketball is a lot harder for us to compare. They have 9 B1G championships to our 8, they have a few final fours and 1 championship since 80.

This! The idea of allowing a coach to return after 3 losses was unfathomable, but I'm glad where we sit today.

With the vacancy at Ben Davis, there are strong rumors that Allen is considering a move back to the the west side of Indy.
