iu dismisses Jaren Handy

I once tutored Auburn football players. Their only goal was maintaining their eligibility. They could care less about the course they were taking or getting a degree and using it. All they cared about was football and beating Alabama. That's when I started becoming very cynical against athletes that place their sport as a higher priority over academics. They treated me like dirt and as their means to get a C. and then got pissed when I wouldn't do their work for them.

remember Bret Fullwood ?

SO.... He was from the magical mystical transformational transfer portal.

Transferred May, 2021 to IU.

Gone, March, 2022.

"Dismissed"

If you leave Auburn (!) for IU.... If IU don't wantcha, .....

"transfer portal"

SMDH
Indinia football...making dreams come true (not). His #1 goal at Indinia was to set the school sack record...and, in his now only season on campus...he registered...wait for it...ZERO sacks. He was there because of Freyfogle (cousin), which, given the disaster of a year that he had, and, with his attitude issues...hard to not see this as at least somewhat related.

Funny and ironic that another article within that article speaks to how Allen values character as much/more than anything when going to the transfer portal, and, that Handy goes to great lengths to talk about that mattering in the article here...yet, dismissed for multiple violations and issues...a "collective" per Coach LEO.

Well, zero sacks is a record. It's just a record low. Mission accomplished.

I think there's probably a good number of players at every school, especially ones who have a legit shot at going pro, that don't care that much about the books.
I think the degree is more important than the grades anyway. You can spin a 2.0 average with the story of the work, dedication, etc it takes to be a D1 athlete AND student.

At team meetings Tiller used to say to the team, "Academics is number 1," while holding up two fingers. That is the reality at power 5 schools.

Back to the issue here… they now have 17 upperclassman on defense and counting on 6 transfers. That’s barely enough to fill the 2 deeps so counting on some 2021/2022 commits and walkons. They are maxed out on 25/7 so they can’t fill in the gaps with more transfers. Their 2021 class was meh on defense and probably only 1-2 guys that can contribute as true freshmen.

Liston can Blue or Gray shirt which helps. Also, you can have any additional transfers blueshirt.
