What I find interesting is that most of you are focused on what both PJ and Bryson bring to the offensive end. Based on comments from Coach Painter and Bryson himself, I don't think that is what is keeping him off the court.

The single biggest reason IMO why Purdue has turned its season around is because they have bought into and are employing the team defensive principles that was the hallmark of the program until two seasons ago. I would say three but in Hummel's final season, they still employed them but lacked the athleticism to be successful.

There is no doubt IMO that Bryson Scott has the athleticism and tenacity to be a disruptive force on the defensive end. In sheer ability, I'd place him 2nd or 3rd (behind only Hammons and maybe Octeus and in front of Davis). The problem is that Purdue's defense is most successful when all five players work in conjunction and stay disciplined within the team defensive concept.

PJ does this pretty well given his stature. Bryson, OTOH, is extremely inconsistent in that regard and all but admitted as such in the post-IU interview.

As others have said, we're really dissecting two players who, as long as Octeus stays out of foul trouble, will combine to play less than 10 minutes a game. Would Purdue have a better chance of success if Bryson were getting those 10 minutes? Yes, if he is following the gameplan. If not......
