Is PU recruiting Devin Davis?

Iowa State has been in contact and mention Houston, Cincinnati, Ole Miss and Purdue as the main competition right now.

So far this offseason, the prospects that have been mentioned on this site as being recruited by the staff:

HS:

-Desmond Bane
-Matt Chastain

JC:

-Devin Davis (formerly at IU, ran over when he drunkenly or whatever he was on jumped out at teammate's moving vehicle)

Grad-Transfer:

-Kellon Thomas (Kent State)

With how it's going early on, they might as well offer Bane. What's the downside to him, other than his defensive ability (which obviously can improve) or the idea that he hasn't played good enough competition to prepare him for major DI?

How many basketball players have played for both Purdue and Indiana?

Oh dear lord I hope not.
Not sure f are referring to Davis or not but...Expect a ton of Troll crap from the south to be dumped on the board if that happens. It would be fun if he played really well though. Not sure if I would be happy with it but doubt anyone cares.

if this is true , why not? The guy made a mistake, its over. I am lucky I didn't have worse things happen to me the way I was at that age.

Great question. I would say zero. I know of one player who attended both schools -- Woody Austin. He attended a satellite iu campus to get his grades up so that he could get back to playing for Purdue.
yeah, and if you were having grade issues at Purdue wouldn't you go to an IU extension if possible...smart move! :)

He didn't want to go to Purdue the first time we recruited him.

Pass on Devin Davis. I would think Desmond Bane has more upside than him.

Projected Scholarship Players For 2016-2017 (from shortest to tallest, just to get a feel for roster size and depth):

1. P.J. Thompson 5'9 Jr.
2. Carsen Edwards 5'11 Fr.
3. Dakota Mathias 6'4 Jr.
4. Ryan Cline 6'5 So.
5. Basil Smotherman 6'6 RS Jr.
6. Vince Edwards 6'7/6'8 Jr.
7. Caleb "Biggie" Swanigan 6'8/6'9 So.
8. Jacquil Taylor 6'9/6'10 RS So.
9. Isaac Haas 7'2 Jr.
10. open (Desmond Bane?)
11. open (transfer of some sort: JC POY PG 6'4 Jaylen Barford has entered his name into the NBA Draft: maybe he's just testing the waters but will he de-commit from Arkansas afterwards? One can hope for awhile, anyway.)
12. open (grad transfer 2 guard: Akeem Springs, Rodney Pryor, Grant Mullins all seem like good prospects)
13. open (grad transfer 4 or 5 with shot-blocking ability: could even be an athletic wing as long as they can be a rim-protector)

If the coaching staff can fill out the scholarships with that level of talent and experience, I will be excited to see what this team can do, even if there are some limitations.

I would like to see Bane become a Boiler, he can handle the ball, looks like a good shooter, good size as a freshman, straight A student from I what I have read.

At one point in time if you transferred from one Big Ten school to another you had to pay your own way!

Yes but that didn't stop everyone. Funderburke went from IU to OSU and Recker went from IU to Iowa (via Arizona).

Actually I have never hated the IU team itself, its the IU fans who I have hated , with their arrogant attitude and act like every time they win its the best thing that ever happened , but when they lose you don't hear a word, so I got no problem if a guy comes to Purdue from IU. I take exception to players like She-He, no one liked him

Jeff Meyer coached at both. Was on the Lee Rose Final Four staff and then on the Kelvin Sampson staff at IU. He has been with Belein at UM for the past few years. He was the coach that Clappy charged with wrecking the IU program after a game at Ann Arbor a few years ago.

...and the coach that Crean had a meltdown on TV with

Here's a list of 25 JC players that are believed to have an immediate impact at the DI level:

Kavell-Bigby Williams just committed to Oregon (him, Boucher, and Jordan Bell together: they have some rim-protectors), so there's only about 5 players on the list that are still available.

I hope Jaylen Barford pulls his name out of the draft and then changes his mind about Arkansas: he's an athletic scoring/passing guard that can really create and make plays.

I mentioned in another thread that I heard the JA Logan coach on ESPN local in S IL Saturday discussing Devon Payne and the name causing the most excitement amongst he and the radio crew was Purdue. Seemed to be some strong mutual interest.

As far as D Davis goes wasn't he at IU nearly long enough to get a degree under their vaunted accelerated athletic degree program. If so he could play anywhere immediately.

ya know I thought that...but didn't touch it. I remember when Knight wanted 5 years so kids could get used to college and it made sense. Makes one wonder how things changes so much...

Maybe they didn't accept his "Life Experience" credits.

I believe Davis left IU with a degree in "Chemistry".

Among the countless many of its distinguished scholars, I believe Purdue University has had two Nobel Laureates in Chemistry while they were serving as professors:

Herbert C. Brown and Ei-ichi Negishi

Here are some of Devontavius Payne's stats from this past season: http://stats.njcaa.org/sports/mbkb/2015-16/div1/players/devontaviuspayne9gpg

He's listed at 6'1 and seems to be a true 2 guard. I wonder how good he is scoring and passing off the dribble.

As I've mentioned, my dream scenario JC addition for Purdue is Jaylen Barford. He's listed in the 6'3/6'4 range and can play either guard position (good assist numbers for how much he scored): http://stats.njcaa.org/sports/mbkb/2015-16/div1/players/jaylenbarfordf5n6

He had a high steals-per-game average as well, which might be correlated to his quickness and overall athleticism.

I don't think the staff should try to get more than 2 JC players because of the availability of future schollies.

can ya'll remember when ya'll though thomas marvolo crean wasn't any good?!?!

hahah ya'll must feel awful dumb now!!

hahahahahah
I can't imagine anyone feeling dumb next to you. Even your trailer park neighbors must feel pretty smart with you around.

BigDogDog is starting to sound like Captain Meat Pants. Pretty soon he will start talking about Crean's junk. Ban coming in 10... 9.... 8....

What a fool.

He committed to Houston yesterday, quoting that he could "TRUST" cheating Coach Sampson...kids never learn!
