We were told by some of the Illini as they passed through that they would be fine and possibly better with Ayo gone and Curbelo running the show. Didn't think so then. Tonight didn't change my thinking. Corbels had the advantage of coming in fresh after Ayo had worn down the competition. Not quite the same when it's all on your shoulders.

I don't know how many really paid that close attention to the end of that game. Illinois had 1....1....ONE point for the final 5:30. A free throw by Curbelo. Meanwhile, Marquette had 1....1....ONE basket in the final 5:30, the lay-up at the end to win it. They went 8-15 from the line during that stretch. What a garbage display of basketball.

I have never watched an AAU game, but Curbelo looked like he thought it was an AAU game. He was putting on a “show” and taking a lot of unnecessary risks. Underwood will need to reign him in.

Yea. I was watching and kept thinking that ILL could have won that game four times in the last 5 min. did not convert very well at all.
