Iowa fans shaking hands with David Bell after the game.

It is great to see sportsmanship. That is lacking in today's sports world in so many areas.

I do have a lot of respect for Iowa's fans. I also think their tradition with waving at the children's hospital is one of the greatest college football traditions. Too many times, we as fans really miss what is important in life, and we need things like this to remember that sports is entertainment and sports is not life and death as too many fans like to make it. This tradition brings that into perspective and what is really important in life.

Some of those kids are in a pretty tight spot. It moistens my eyes to think that some of them may not get to see adulthood. Hopefully it doesn't happen too often.

I guess seeing that just reminds me of what I have been personally going through lately. It is sad seeing kids going through that though. He was not a kid, but a young adult; however, it was incredible to see what strength Tyler Trent had, even though he knew his life was going to be short. He was, and still is, an inspiration.
For me, I am in my 50s, so I have experienced a lot in life. These kids in children's hospitals have been put through hardships for all of their young lives. It does give you perspective.

Why am I bring all of this up, because I had a biopsy this last week, and I will find out my results next week. This is my second cancer scare in the last 2 years. I hope this one turns out like the last one, but you never know. That is one reason I have not been as involved on this board over the last month or so. Today was the first time I have done a game discussion thread, since week one I believe. I thought I would make an exception today, and it really was great to be involved with everyone on the board again. It helps to take my mind off on what I am constantly thinking about.

This tradition with the children's hospital shows that life is precious, and we overlook that sometimes with everyone having busy lives. It does bring a tear to your eye to think what those kids are going through. As far as me, I have a lot of people praying for me, and I do believe in the power of prayer.

Appreciate your perspective and hate the C word. Life can be tough and unfair leaving many wondering "why"? I lost a friend to that virus from China that should never have happened a few days ago. He wasn't a close friend, but a friend a couple of years younger than me. I played a lot of ball with his older brother through the years. His daughter kept me tuned into his progress or lack of while I was out of the country. I can't imagine living with cancer scares...never knowing if... FWIW, you will have a lot of people pulling for you...praying for you that truly care and empathize with you. May He provide comfort and nothing is found. FWIW, every day there are small advances in treatment that I hope you do not have to experience. God Bless.

It's very hard to 'hate' our most hated rival. There is some good natured ribbing sure, but overall their fanbase is excellent and great to talk to.
