Interesting take

I am hopeful thart biggie will lose 10 pounds or so. That should improve his jumping and athletic ability as well as his defense. I don't watch the pros very often but am I to believe that there are no 6 9 players that post up?

There are lesser and lesser every season but some that come to mind as regular post-up guys that are in the same height/weight range as Swanigan: Al Jefferson, Zach Randolph, Paul Millsap, Purdue's own Carl Landry, and David Lee to name a few.

The fact that there lesser and lesser of his types doesn't have to mean a liability if he is well rounded and improves. I would compare him to a Carlos Boozer at his zenith.

very well written, by both authors.

My take on his prospects for eventual NBA success have changed a bit with his athletic measurables. I knew he lacked it, but to see the sprint, and vertical leap measurables... wow! And this is after truly transforming his body and working harder than anyone last summer. I just think it will be diminishing returns at this points. There only so much one can do to increase their vertical and foot speed. I think he almost needs to not lose any more weights and lean harder on his strength.

As much as his reach is outstanding, his foot speed is detrimental in the other direction. Good luck Biggie. This is the ultimate test of Purdue S&C coach, because if he comes back, Biggie's baseline is public, will be interesting to see how much better he can get next year. I'm guessing there's probably not too much he can do no mattter how hard he works.

+1

His lack of athleticism was evident in the B1G, it is only going to be magnified at the next level. I wish him luck and hope he gets to fulfill his dream but the eye test and the measurables don't suggest that is likely right now.
