It is reported that his Iowa performance was one of the best by a Boiler in his League debut. I recall the Macy game vs Minny, but was not aware it was his introduction to the Big 10. (And Minnesota has some terrific teams in those bygone years!) I know JBC was not a starter for his freshman year, so I wouldn't expect him to have huge numbers to start, but I wonder about Mount, Dish, Shellhase, etc. Interesting Walls and Jordan debuted so impressively. Many remember them being 4 year starters; I wonder who remembers they were on opposing teams for the 1974 State Championship game, won by Jordan's FW Northrup squad. Even in the 90's when that name Jordan was constantly bandied about, I instantly thought not of Michael, but Walter. Anyway, Boiler Up, Carsen, glad you're here!

I remember Walls and Jordan playing against each other in the final. Wayne would be much better today as he was sooooooo skinny for the rugged play back then. He was a good jumper, but negated it with a low shooting pocket...lefty too

Carsen - 19/4/5 vs Iowa
Smotherman - 9/3/1 vs #3 OSU

I remember watching some of that game on an old black and white in a small town in Kentucky....Northrop defeating Jeffersonville.....also remember a little of a Kentucky kid at Louisville Male, Darrel Griffith.

It was around that time...maybe a year later I can't recall that I drove around Louisville trying to catch Male so I could see Griffith and Turner.

Mount ... couldn't play as freshm(a)n...
...but did play his first game for Purdue when about 10,000 fans showed up for the Purdue Frosh-Varsity game in Lambert and Mount raked the Varsity with 33 points (of course without the 3 point shot)
