Was at Victory Field in Indianapolis tonight for Purdue's Coaches Caravan event (second in as many days).
Will have several stories the next couple days after speaking with Morgan Burke, Matt Painter and Darrell Hazell but some quick things for now:
Will have several stories the next couple days after speaking with Morgan Burke, Matt Painter and Darrell Hazell but some quick things for now:
- Matt Painter can't say anything about Caleb Swanigan, obviously. But I asked him if anticipated bringing a player in before summer school starts in June. "Well, we have one (scholarship) right now. So any time you have one, there's always a possibility." That's pretty much all he can say, really.
- Hazell confirmed -- even though there is no contract yet -- that Purdue will open the 2017 season against Louisville in Lucas Oil Stadium. He said he doesn't know if it's a Purdue home game or not.
- Morgan Burke said he's meeting with the BOT Friday about the football "master plan" that includes the south end zone and Mollenkopf, but it doesn't appear to be a major deal. "All we're really doing is saying, 'Do you care if we plan?' They don't care."
- Burke said Purdue has an agreement "in principle" to play Vanderbilt in football for a home-and-away in 2019 and 2029.
