I'm glad they are clarifying this a little

Actually, the latter "could be" every bit as dangerous. There are older people less dangerous than those younger, but I'm not sure someone under 35 should even be voting. Many knew ole Joe had mental issues before taking office. It is all here in the archives somewhere. Son-in-law's mother "HAD" to quit her job in Germany doing social work that she loved due to age (low 60s?)that she was not ready to quit and apparently good at what she did...

"For a while democracy extends the spere of indiviual freedom, socialism restricts it. As democracy attaches all possible value to each man; socialism makes each man a mere agent, a mere number. Democracy and socialism have nothing in common but oen word: equality. But notice the difference: while democracy seeks equality in liberty, socialism seeks equality in restraint and servitude. Hence the science of despotism, which was once so complex, has been simplified and reduced, as it were, to a single principle" thoughts by Alexis De Tocqueville over a hundred years ago...
We miss the greatest President in my lifetime. Maybe Desantis can be similar

I don’t understand. Did you not recognize Reagan’s decline?
Didn’t notice until years out off office. Didn’t know you were Bill O fan of Killing Reagan. You better stop listening to Bill O and listen to CNN

Sowell’s words are as true today as it was then. Too bad he’s not celebrated more in the Black community
The virtues and vices of man are not bound by time. The wisdom of the Founding Fathers in setting up the constitution are still true. When you see someone wanting a "popular vote" and to get rid of the electoral college...you know that person knows only what he or she has been fed through the media "recently". He or she has no real background for his or her feelings of worth...like so many opinions formed through Osmosis...

I don’t know what Bill O fan means.

Reagan was clearly falling off at the end, yet you clearly hold him in high regard. His cognitive issues don’t seem to bother you now. Seems you have a double standard, except you don’t like Biden anyway so it works fine in your mind.

With regard to your previous post, yes I knew Biden had issues before the election and still voted for him……..and would do it again…….as I’ve explained many times.

If he runs again….big mistake…….and loses the election but refuses to concede, says the election was rigged every 15 minutes, pressures states to change their results, encourages states to send fake electors, demands his VP break the law, watches idly as his supporters beat cops and threaten members of congress, surrounds himself with ass kissers who believe Venezuelan voting machines were used in our election……….just to name a few……..THEN I WOULD regret my vote for Biden. Unlike you, who doesn’t a fvck that your president did such things.

So you don’t believe CNN that said there was no evidence of abnormal mental issues with Reagan? Sad you still support a corrupt president with obvious mental issues who has run this country in the ground. No worries the Calvary is coming in November that will handcuff the president you voted for

It's amusing to me we have a minimum age requirement for the office but not a maximum. The latter being every bit as dangerous.
Maybe even moreso.

I don’t think it is in anyway ageist to believe there needs to be an age limit for office. It’s just biological.

Hell, maybe we could get this passed before 2024 and ENSURE we can’t have Trump-Biden again.

I would vote for Biden over Trump if he were in a coma. Make no mistake here: I do not regret my vote one bit. Not one single bit.
Seriously you think Trump would be worse than the mess Biden has created? I get it Trump’s personality is a problem but his results were night and day better than Biden. I hope you’ll join me and vote Desantis over Biden if they are in the general election

I will give you credit. You are right upfront about being one of the biggest dumb****s , to use your own words for the mods, in the history of the world. You are so ****ing stupid and yet post it with such pride. You make @BuilderBob6 almost seem to have an IQ pushing 100.

Isn't it scary that people literally as stupid as a fence post like @gr8indoorsman are even allowed to vote? There should be a minimum literacy and intelligence test to vote and he would fail both

Yes, I do think Trump is worse than Biden. Those reasons should be plainly obvious, but unfortunately, to some, undermining the free press, election integrity, and numerous federal institutions all because they are unfavorable to him personally doesn’t seem to be a big deal to you guys. To me, stuff like that has had a much more far reaching impact than the current level of the stock market.

History will record Trump as one of the five worst Presidents of all time.

The question becomes at what age is there an assurance that mental capacity is not capable of doing the job? There is no age within any president in the past that has a truncated data point where all on one side are capable and all on one side are incapable. Instead, there is a distribution that when averaged in time slots is normalized, as are all averages, even with a single tailed distribution which would be the interest for a metric of age on mental capacity. The math for an age restriction for a single candidate is much different than a group of voters.

With a single candidate it is possible to see the mental deficiencies, as many of us saw in Biden. Those deficiencies were decades earlier, and something Obama knew. Still, others will choose to not see those, have other areas of interest, or not care.

When establishing an age metric for voters, the math is currently impossible to study all the voters and so an average or single data point makes more sense…knowing that you don’t know the voter’s ability to vote intelligently for each, losing some population from the mean on both sides. The goal at that point should be at what age does a voter on average have enough understanding that evolutionary growth of knowledge through life experiences, study, and reflection, be apparent to make an intelligent vote and a single data point makes “more” sense until a better evaluation if possible is in place.

Similar is term limits…we all have the ability to set those terms without an external number and that too is a reflection on the voter…

I wish there were some test on intelligence in many areas, but that too would become a problem at some point...and intelligence does not replace ethics. He who controls the test, controls the minds...

Franklin's comment about keeping a Republic was his awareness of humanity in general ...and going back to realizing that the unwanted, but limited government was necessary due to the passions of man exceeding his reasoning. We are our own worst enemy concerning liberty and responsibility...

History will record Trump as one of the five worst Presidents of all time.
History has generally ranked the worst of the worst presidencies as those that threatened the existence of the republic. For instance,

US News & World Report has the following as their worst:
  1. Buchanan - The primary enabler of the Civil War.
  2. Trump - Fomented insurrection and the only President to be impeached twice.
  3. Andrew Johnson - Attempted to block reconstruction after the Civil War.
  4. Pierce -Fervor for expanding the borders – thereby adding several slave states – helped set the stage for the Civil War.
  5. William Henry Harrison - Delivering the longest inaugural address in U.S. history, he came down with pneumonia that made his 30-day presidency the shortest in U.S. history
C-SPAN via the Smithsonian weighed in as follows:
  1. Buchanan
  2. A Johnson
  3. Pierce
  4. Trump
  5. WH Harrison
Harding and Herbert Hoover may be pissed that they were not notable! ;)

Looks like it can strike a lot earlier to me.
Good one :)

I would think that there's truly something here that most all of us could agree on; though every individual is different and there can be exceptions, anyone mid-70's and older is far less-equipped to be President.

Between 35 and 55. I was just asking tjreese because he is associating advanced age with diminished capacity, and in the case of both Biden and Trump I heartily agree!
No, you continue to miss the mark. I was providing an "explanation" between an age that was too old to become president with the math involved (single person) being a single data point, and the difference with several data points as in voters. You are young enough to be my child as I suspect you are closer to 35 than 55, and never paddled. I am old enough to need my depends loosened to not get so cranky @TMan92 .

Do you have brown eyes?

not at all. I have an 89 year old cousin that is a few standard deviations above the average intelligence and certainly sharper than many on twitter and in forums...you say everyone is different and then contradict yourself with anyone mid-70s and older is far less equipped. my head is still spinning. But that is your right and I'm not going to waste my time going back and forth using your own words

I said that while there are exceptions, the general takeaway is that at a certain age, the mid-70's, mental capacity deteriorates.

Can you not agree with me on anything without talking in circles, even when it's straightforward biology?!?

So, a very simple question. How old are you?

It is not my wish to exploit your youth and lack of life experiences for my gain. However, since you insist on exploiting your own youth and lack of life experiences I'll get you very close to my age...many times closer that the 20 year window you supplied. So riddle me this Batman-

Consider the raw number of information absorbed at 35 GPM through an 1 inch orifice and 100 inches long neglecting frictional losses and any pressure head for about a minute minus twice the minimum age to be POTHUS and then multiplied by about 2.33 of what is considered a standard deviation of the cognitive Index added to that number.

That my friend is pretty damn accurate when only considering years and not hours...and again it is not my wish to exploit your youth and rather have my comments stand on their own. Still, you insist on my age and now you have it.

A very simple question to you is do you work in education or the government?
