Beating Purdue at full strength would have Tennessee's second best win of the season, @ Kentucky being the first.

Now if Tennessee wins its because we are supposed to.

Agree in that Purdue will likely get an ass pounding. Academics are our Covid-19 plus opt outs. It wouldn’t surprise me one bit if Purdue loses a few more players due to b.s. old protocol testing methods developed 18 months ago. Miraculously TN has every player available wink 😉.
Calling it TN 49, PU 17.
Only reason it doesn’t get to 59 is TN plays your young players in a lot of the 2nd half.

If has to have been a rough season for you guys then, if UK is your best win of the season. I know UK has improved over the last couple of years, but still.

We won't have our best secondary player and our best OL... that's it for now.

Full disclosure…I did not think that Zander was participating. Now that he is, that may help some ball control.
TN 42
PU 24
Still not enough firepower to overcome the loss of the top WR’s.
“IF” and this is a big IF Purdue and Aidan O’Connell can pull off a win, then he should be in Heisman discussions early on next season because that will be the type of performance to win without all the starters Purdue will be missing.

Why don't you GTF outta here and go back to your hillbilly hideout. You've started 3 different threads here crowing about how great UT is. GFY...

Hell if O’Connell can somehow pull this out while we are missing our top 4 (?) outside wrs, they should give him this years heisman.

Why so harsh PurduePat? Seems to be reasonable and not crapping on Purdue. Hell, I've seen nothing wrong with RockyTopRowdy's dialogue personally as he wanted to see a competitive game with each team at full strength. It won't happen and WE all seem to think this heavily favors UT and so has Vegas in their adjustment.
I give him a complete hall pass for wanting his team to win and just perusing here for insight.

He’s not perusing for insight. He’s trying to tweak Purdue fans. He thinks Tennessee is the same program it was under Phil Fulmer and Peyton Manning. UT’s defense is shaky especially in the secondary.

Please find anywhere where I have stated that Tennessee is currently a national powerhouse, competing for conference and national championships. I’ll wait.

This time last year, Knoxville had the highest COVID rate of any city in the US with a population under 1 Million. In September of this year, Tennessee was again at the top of the COVID list for the highest infection rate in the US. Many Tennessee players don't have it now because they have already had it, and have been vaccinated (football team vaccination rate is above 90% while living in one of the least vaccinated areas of the country). UT learned their lesson (apparently) after withdrawing from the Liberty Bowl last year due to COVID cases.

So you can wink all you want...but if Tennessee doesn't have COVID issues...it's predominantly because they've already dealt with it.

I haven't minded your posting at all. I'm very disappointed we won't be at full strength. I would currently list UT as a heavy favorite. Something like a three touchdown favorite. At full strength I believe we had a slight edge. I understand why players opt out because of professional choices. However, I just don't agree with it. Why even play the game? They took the same chance every time they took the field. With all the changes taking place in college sports what we see 5 years from now will look nothing like today. All of the "me" factor being injected into college sports along with exhorbitant coach salaries are ruining the game.

I agree with you. My biggest gripe is going to be the expanded playoff. Right now college football is must see TV during the regular season because there isn’t a safety net for the post season. Expanding the playoff will ruin that.

TN is certainly not the same as fat Phil’s teams. Talented and having a successful 1st season with new coach sure. As Purdue usually does, have a great few moments, then GRADES and student athletes flatten the tires.
With all this Covid crapola, I would not be surprised one bit if more are sidelined before the game gets underway.
I’ve gone from excited to see this game to mildly intrigued to see an exhibition game.

Fulmer had a stretch of only losing 5 games in 4 years, if I remember correctly.

I'll promise you there isn't a Tennessee fan alive who is disillusioned enough to think we are still that.

In fact, I would say the fanbase as a whole is more negative than most given the decade + of mostly average/below average football.

Not throwing the shade at TN as much as I'm thinking TN will find a way to assure good tests. Hell, if I were Purdue as this moment, I'd be loading hand sanitizer in their nosrils before the tests so we don't have further reduction in headcount come game time. That is just me though...

Regarding Covid as a whole, many protocols were developed 18 months ago and not updated.
In fact, just yesterday the CDC changed from 10 days to 5 days quarantine. College athletes who are vaccinated should be eligible immediately with no symptoms & 1 negative test. I'm not a rules maker, but it certainly seems like an update in protocols are needed ASAP.

I've never been a fan of Willie Martinez's coaching. This guy is in a revolving door among P5 programs...he was pretty lousy his first go-around at UT, and has been sub-par this time, too. I would say that UT's secondary has a lot of talent in the starters...but coaching is not good and there is very limited depth. With that being said, they did improve as the season went on.

The legion of the miserable is strong in Knoxville...just glimpsing at Volquest will show how miserable.

Well said!! Pretty much sums it up in a nutshell...college game has already changed drastically...hate to see what's to come...Rocky top posts are fine...as Boilermakers, if the shoe were on the other foot, we would want to beat you at full strength..nobody wants a hollow victory! Congrats on your good season....hopefully start challenging GA in the near future!

Not to add to the pain, but now BOTH of Purdues starter at cornerbacks are out for the bowl game. If one of the bowl starters goes down we are either playing a former FCS safety or a RS-FR who was a QB in High School

And two of the top candidates to replace our gone wide outs are out as well due to season ending injuries (YSR and Rice)

BOTH? Brown has been starting for what, 8 games now? Brown is a starter. We are just missing Mackey.

Hell, I just hope y'all can field a team at this point.
