...Why in the hell wouldn't you want to come to Purdue?

Next year you would back-up a good player, get minutes, and learn. If you panned and developed, you would be the stud for at least 2 years. Okay, I have prejudice but it is a good question. Sure, instant playing time is a factor but to me, this is a great situation. Are we peaking at the right time? Time will tell but I say, hell yes!

Go Boilers!!!

This is why. They want to play now and sign a $20M contract in two years. Maybe after next year.

The answer depends on your definition of "good." We're not Kansas, Kentucky, NC, Duke, AZ St, MSU, OSU, ..... and so on. We're not close to homes in TX, CA, N/S Carolina, NY, Mass, ... and so on. We're not a one-and-done style school (as Dakota Girl said). We don't offer a General Studies degree, so you must take math and engish here. Now we are down somewhere around 12th best at this positon. There are rarely 12 great big men (if you are thinkiing 7' back to the basket) in a given year. Hammons was local and had some negative luggage. Haas was relatively unknown. Just like Carsen Edwards was last summer. But your question was why would one not want to come here. Not whether we can find one that is not pursued by a blue blood or lives in a far off location.

Your first point, "you would back-up a good player", is one reason. A couple more are that you would have play good defense or sit the bench, and you aren't going to get to do nothing for 2.5 years and be granted a degree.

Swanigan proved that's not true this year. He has improved greatly but early season was very difficult for him and he still played more than everyone else.

The best way for a young good big to get better is to practice against someone close to his equal or better. AJ against Haas - they both are better for working against each other.
