If this team doesn't win the WUG, it'll be because Isaac gets in foul trouble

The guy is unstoppable if he can just keep himself on the court.

It wouldn't be as big a deal if we had a backup true center. But I guess it's true what they say: "No Haarms, no fouls."

Yep...he needs to play and play a lot! Now let's talk about that play on words....:D
But I thought the offense / defense subbing in OT between Haas and Taylor was very effective. Can you do that all game?

I agree. If Taylor stays healthy, he will be a difference-maker this year. He looked really solid. And he hasn't shaken off the rust yet.

The player-of-the-game was PJ. I was sitting behind the Canada bench. Watching PJ play defense was a pure joy. He completely rattled them.

Even though Ewing played very little because he picked up 3 quick fouls, Painter is going to love this kid. He is going to be a defensive stopper. Great length and lateral quickness. And he takes defense to heart.

Considering the US has come in first only twice in the previous 8 University Games, with 6 of those US teams represented by college All Stars, we are probably all underestimating the strength of the competition.

How is that PU got their entire team and coach to represent the USA? Are other teams sore about the extra practice this gives the Boilers?

Ya know as I was riding home I was wondering if it couldn't be done more myself :)

Historically, teams have mostly been college all stars with the exception of 2003 and 2015. In 2003, Northern Iowa represented the US and finished 9th while KU + Nic Moore took home the gold in 2015 (won in the semis by the skin of their teeth in 2OT). I'm guessing other teams are certainly jeolous of Purdue this year. It definitely helped that Painter is so involved with USA basketball.

I'm not in the Haas is a terrible defender camp. Sometimes he's pretty darn good. But when a team gets a good pick and roll going, throwing JT in to slow it down could be a darn good approach.

the US used to have an all star team as well like the U19 tourney. But the US decided to change it a while back to have one university represent us. it has delivered mixed results.

Be careful of expectations. We will be facing some of the best teams and best players in the world, in this tournament. Kansas barely won several of their games. All that said, this is a great experience for the team. Playing single elimination this early in the season.

It's pool play so each team is guaranteed 3 or 4 games, right? I think the first game is probably the toughest with Argentina.
