to Middle Tennessee State (which I realize is very unlikely, but they are down 10 right now), would it be worse than Purdue's loss?

Totally. Plenty of people have them in the Final Four or to win it all. It would be a gigantic upset.

Worse, it would prove the Committee was on point.

Just checked scores and a ton of higher seeded teams have won games so far. So I don't feel as bad. However it's still a painful loss. It's called March Madness for a reason

Happens...every...single..year. We've been lucky to avoid this for a while, so it feels worse to us - but over time, we've done a good job of performing in early rounds. Unfortunately, it's coming 2 years in a row vs. spread out over 9 years (we've won our first round game 7/9 years with Painter).

I live in Murfreesboro so I am rooting on the local team.
But man it won't make me feel any better knowing Sparty is out.

It would be way worse! For MSU fans anyway. Kind of ironic if it happens, with all the Painter bashing going on, I was thinking what coach from the Big 10 would I rather have and some dude from MSU was the only one I came up with. Maybe we should just be careful what we wish for and hope Painter and company get better with every bad experience they have.

MSU going out is going to make Purdue's loss last night even a bit more bitter for me. I know it's assuming a lot, but that would have been the #2 in that section going out, making for an even better shot at the F4.

By far worse. They were the pick to win it all among many of the pundits. 15/2 upset which rarely happens vs 12/5 which happen every year.

Guess the committee seeded the big ten too well rather than bad , wow

Teamwork > talent in many cases
Maybe not all 3 weekends but enough to matter.
More and more every year

I was 18 out of 20 on my bracket until that happened. Now it's all blown to hell.

Down goes Sparty! A 2 seed to a 15 seed has to be worse. Although ours was probably more painful to endure as a fan!
Ours was more painful as we had the game in hand (probably two hands) and it slipped through our fingers. Sparty never had the game in hand.
Mid Tenn looks way better than little rock. I say they were underseeded or their stellar play was just a fluke.

Your hero worship of all things MSU and Izzo got a serious knock today. Sorry 'bout that. (not)
You have to admit, it takes the sting away. When other people get beat that were 3 seeds above us and in the Big Ten and beat us in the Big Ten championship game, and favored to possibly win it all and just busted everyone's bracket ,,, it helps. we were blamed for busting everyone's bracket. But MSU just DESTROYED everyone's bracket. It makes me feel giddy and I have completely forgotten the Purdue loss now.

the question was "would it be worse than our loss?" my answer is MSU never lead once.....so why don't YOU figure out what I meant genius.

Blowing a lead is bad. Being down an entire game to a much lower caliber team is bad. I'm still not seeing a point. Go home troll.

This loss really has to be killing you!

Hey sh-t head, stop posting the same thing over and over.

You have moved to official troll status in my estimation, and will be treated as such. You sure as hell are not a Purdue fan.

Thankful that the MSU loss at least took the attention off Purdue. This tournament is wild - I think at least part of it is the seeding was completely off and Calipari's point is correct.

The way I look at it, if you are Denzel Valentine and you are trying to cement your legacy as an MSU great, the MSU loss is far worse. If you are Rapheal Davis trying to finally break through and lead Purdue to a Final Four as a senior, the Purdue loss is much worse. This is incredibly tough on both of them.

That's why the first round is such high pressure for the higher seeds. They want it so much that it is hard to play loose. The lower seeds view the first weekend as their Final Four and play with maximum effort, but very little pressure.

I don't know which was "worse", but MSU's loss was far more surprising.
