I have to say that, away from the emotions of watching the game real-time, we looked pretty good. A few things that stood out in that pivotal late 3rd quarter exchange (some of which have been mentioned by players and others here):
- Domo Young was absolutely interfered with on the 3rd and 2, right in front of an official and our bench. Terrible call by our coaches to run a stop route there, but a terrible no call as well.
- Austin (as he mentioned in a post game article) did indeed take a blow to the head on the next third down interception throw from the blitzing CB, and the CB knew it. Also right in front of an official. He tries to pull up, but that's an automatic in 2015.
- Leroy Clark is gone for certainty on his pick if he stays on his feet. Full head of steam and only Birdsong to beat. Damn
- the possession following that pick was as bad as you'll see after a momentum swing with zero move to the jugular and poor execution I across the board. The missed FG was a dagger
As most here have said, we have a lot of positives to take away but the series of events like those above certainly don't help in getting a tough W on the road. We also had several things work out in our favor.
