As someone posted earlier welcome back to all the A-- Hole posters who we haven't heard from in the last 4 games.
Personally, I expected that we would probably lose to Minn. today. The scenario was perfect for it. But I didn't expect it to happen quite like this. I figured Minny would get hot shooting and have a good defensive pressure game as all street BB type teams do every so often. Figured we wouldn't be bad but not exceedingly into it.
THis game was decided on many fronts and when that happens it usually comes down to the fimal 5 minmutes or so and who gets a break and how the refs are calling the game. Obviously the breaks at the very end didn't go our way. And yes to all those brillant Forum coaches out there who said there is no way to win when you have 23 to's, it is very difficult to do and that is the main reason we lost. The point is we did make the turnovers and still could have won. Yes we got some lucky 3's to fall but so did Minny. Though many of those turnovers were caused by ourselves, Minny hacks alot and they weren't called for it so that helped them immensly. I've always said that most games against fairly evenly matched teams are decide by hot shooting or how the game is called in general by the refs. After that it is usually decided by a lucky shot or a few calls that are bad at the wromg time. Today the game calling in generalby the refs was not to Purdue's favor of play. Then that was topped off by the ball stuck on the rim, and a few bad calls then pretty much decided it. And yes that was a foul on Foul on Walker. THe call where Walker kept bouncing into Hammonds for 12 feet to get to the buckeet was a foul on Walker. Look at the replays and you will see that all three of the blocking cahrges should have been charges on Minny. On every one our defenders feet were both stationary a good second before the offensive man ran into them. SO no it isn't completely the refs fault and we should be blamed for our poor play in many ways that helped cause us to lose but the officials also share in the blame for all you people who insist it is never the refs fault you lose. They are not the sole cause but they are a cause in many cases.
We have a long way to go before we are great, but we are quite good at the present time. Just remember every other fan base in the big ten thinks their team and the coach aren't very good except maybe Wisonsin. Most every team in the BIg ten can beat any other team on any given day. Until we get talent like Kentucky(none of which are there to get an education) we are nevr going to be totally overpowering.
Go Boilers !!! Keep Fighting.
