to gauge interest. No way does Kelly get another NFL job and the big time jobs are filled. I know it won't happen but if Kelly agreed, Purdue's program would immediately be on the national radar and would become relevant. Recruiting would immediately become better and I don't care if he uses Purdue as a stepping stone.

Definitely worth a phone call.

No way he would ever come here. He could have any college job he wants. Titans are said to be very interested in him.

We have to know what we are right now... Like dating. If I am a 3, bald, fat, glasses, I am not going to ask out a supermodel. Now we could hire someone down and out, like Mike Leech post Texas Tech. Potentially like Sumlin post A & M.

Chip can sit back and see and take what he wants. My prediction is Jim Mora goes to Miami, then Chip could go to UCLA. Or if Chip sits out a year someone will can their guy to bring him in. Maybe we can leftovers.

Well it's worth a shot anyway, don't know if you don't try. You might get laughed at, but you can always try. Somehow Kyle Busch, NASCAR driver, has a pretty hot wife (She's also a Purdue grad.).

We can't even afford to try. It would be like me test driving a Lamborghini... Yeah it is awesome, but I could never afford it. 1. We can't afford $6 mil buyout on this guy, 2. We can't afford to pay Chip $6 mil a year. I wish we could.

Let's go bankrupt then.

Reg, you had to bring up Mike Leach, that was my guy for PU. He wanted to go to a school that would be a rebuilding job and of course, has succeeded to do that at Wazzou ( a place that's arguably more difficult to recruit to). He just signed an extension to 2020. You guys should hear the 2 Philly Sports Talk radio statio

A few points:

1. It would make all the sense in the world to make a call to Kelly. You my get turned down, but so what? It is not as if there is a lot lower to go t the moment.

2. Burke won't do it. It is an aggressive move and he has a history of NOT being aggressive.

3.Kelly's offense would thrive at Purdue given its history. At Oregon he had the Nike backing, but Oregon lacked a history as good as Purdue's (previous to him) and he built that program to its heights. He could do at least as well here and show Philly that THEy screwed up. That is a motivator at his end.

4.Arguing against a Kelly hire is MB's and Purdue's historic unwillingness to admit error.

Calling Kelly SHOULD happen. Unfortunately it will not.

.

You may want to google their history. Bellotti rebuilt that program. When he handed it off to Kelly, that thing was already a machine.

Oregon has some good years under Bellotti, but they were spotty in the latter part of his tenure. There were losing and mediocre seasons, similar to the late Tiller era at Purdue.

They really put it into gear under Kelly.

Bellotti's last 4 years

10-2
7-6
9-4
10-3

They would name a street for him at Purdue for that. Bellotti built it. Kelly took it and ran.

I hate the 9/10 win mediocre seasons.

I equate their history to ours pre Tiller. Similar winning %. They had Dan Fouts and Amad Rashad. We had Bob Griese and Leroy Keyes.

We can sure as hell afford it as evidenced by all the building going on at Purdue as well as the new football facilities upgrade. Whether or not our leadership (i.e. MB, MD, BOT, PRF) are willing to commit to spending the $$ or not is the question. How many billion do we have to have to be able to afford to move ahead in the FBS arms race. I would bet the PRF's billions against most.

With Mr. Fiscal Responsibility (Daniels) running the show we WON'T afford it. We need a Knight, Cuban, etc. to become a fan, put Morgan in his place and let him wield more power than the BoT.

And Rich brooks took them to the Rose Bowl his last year there, before handing off to Bellotti, so yeah, Chip inherited a much better situation there than he would here.

Not if you want to have a good team. Kelly was horrible.

Money talks.....
You can get almost any coach you want if you're willing to pay for him.

Are you the accountant for the athletic department? How do you know what we 'can' and 'can't' afford?
If Chip Kelly called Burke and gave him his $ requirement, do you not think Burke would be on the phone 2 seconds later with the Board of Trustees saying "Let's make this happen!"

Just for fun, someone on here should find out who Kelly's agent is, send him an email and see what he would think if Purdue opportunity were available.

Well if we are in the red with Darrell Hazell at $2 mil I am pretty sure Chip is out of our financial scope.

Not an established one. Anyone worth while is smart and patient enough to know it is about more than money. He will wait for the right opportunity.

The money will come to him, he needs to find the right fit. Same reason mcdaniels didn't take a head gig last offseason in spite of a couple teams offering him a ton of money

Chip Kelly not going to a below average Power 5 school. He will either stay in the pros or wait for an opening next year in either the NFL or college game. By the way, who is Dan Mora at UCLA???? Jim Mora Jr., and I don't think the Dolphins will look in that direction, with Tannehill, don't be surprised if the Dolphins don't call Kelly.

Might as well interview Paterno, Landry and Bowden.

Yeah, I don't understand how an ugly, rich professional athlete gets a beautiful woman. None of that makes sense.

Knew nothing about Kyle Busch's wife Samantha before this thread but I Googled her. Hands down hottest...Boilermaker...EVER! I would post a link but just google her and check out her many link worthy pics.

Sam was and is super hot. I remember some wild stories she would tell when they first started dating. He would send a plane to the Purdue airport at ANY time of ANY day to come pick her up. For Xmas I remember her saying he got her thousands on gift cards to her favorite places. And this was very early on in their relationship.

Not sure which is the most unlikely fantasy.
1. That MB would make a call to Chip Kelly
2. That Chip Kelly would take the call.
3. That any of us would have a chance with Samantha Busch.

This sure was an energetic and very interesting post, especially when everybody knows that it has been stated in no uncertain terms that Darrel Hazell is our coach for 2016.

Not because he earned another year
