I understand beating Penn State is unimpressive and losing to Iowa is less damaging. That said, it is undeniable that we have a better chance at beating Penn State after two games than beating Iowa tomorrow, and a win is better than a loss no matter what. Thus, anything that gains Purdue another win is a good thing.
If you're still concerned that Purdue needs another quality win to get in the field, I have to ask why?
In order for Purdue to fall out of the tournament, someone else - probably several someone elses - has to jump them. Who's doing that at this point?
Illinois? Nope. They're out of it.
BYU? Nope. They lost to Gonzaga so they're not moving up and they're probably in anyway.
Murray State? Nope. Their RPI and resume is worse than ours.
Texas A&M playing now - cheer for Auburn.
Miami gets Notre Dame tonight... good luck!
Texas gets Iowa State tonight... good luck!
IU's not getting in with a Northwestern win today, they need more.
And so forth...
It's not as simple as Purdue losing and they're out... someone else has to step up, and no one has yet. Tonight's games might tell us more, and seeding might be affected, but Purdue's as good as in IMO. Playing Penn State is a good thing.
