Can we please get the game recaps back at the very least? There is little to discuss yet about WBBall

Michael, I have been under the weather for two weeks. In ER and to my doc X2 and mostly in bed. Not COVID. Starting to feel better (until I watched us lose our 3rd straight home VB game — sigh).

Anyway, I know it is not necessarily up to me but that is why I have not been around much.

I’m out of retirement working 12 hour days right now, figured I might as well make some money if my union is going to let me. Noticed they hit a rough patch, Shondell told us they weren’t that good, top 15-20, certainly no #5 at this time.

Get better dammit! While it's disappointing to lose three home matches in a row, if you consider the source it's not so bad. To get swept by Maryland is the worst, but to lose to the two elite programs in the BIG, Nebraska and Wisconsin, not so bad. That's kind of what I expected from the Neb and Wisc matches. All and all 15-4 is much better than I expected from this rebuilt team.

Get better soon Doc! Glad you’re on the mend.
Maryland loss was a bit of a stunner. I didn’t get to watch but they apparently were just unfocused per Coach Shondell’s remarks the following Monday.
I wasn’t surprised at their loss on Wednesday, but thought they looked decent - just overmatched.
Saturday will be tough - not optimistic about getting a win but you never know.

On a basketball note, looks like Marquette came to WL for a “secret” scrimmage today, and thumped Purdue 67-52. 18 TO’s per a tweet from Mike Carmin. Lots of work to do…. Sigh. I’ll try to find the tweet and post

Yes, and it looks like defenses are adjusting to Eva Hudson's game. 11 kills vs Maryland and only 7 vs Nebraska. Others need to take up the slack.

But wow, Nebraska is really talented. They don't seem to have any weaknesses.

Sat night vs Minn result was not a surprise, losing 3-1. Home court advantage for them, but I thought Purdue played well. (Better than the FB team against Wisc..😎).
The schedule gets no easier! PSU at home is next I believe, and they (PSU) are playing very well. I watched some of their last match, they won, without Taylor Trammell who went down with an ankle injury in the first set. Didn’t miss a beat from what I could tell with whoever subbed in for her. But I’m not familiar at all with their players or lineup.

Match is at Purdue, so I’m hopeful that the home court setting will be good for a few points. Boiler up ladies!

Edit: PSU match is Nov 12. I saw something on Twitter about a “blackout” but didn’t bother to read the date. My bad.

Purdue was up 22-17 in set one. Have to close that out. Might have made a big difference in the match.

Yes, that first set loss was a killer. We blew 3 set points and eventually lost the set. We did win a closely contested second set but it seemed like we lost our enthusiasm after that.

That match is probably the last time we will face Coach McCutcheon (unless we meet them in the NCAA Tournament) as he has announced his retirement.

Both Eva Hudson and the Gopher's Taylor Landfair ended with 21 kills but Landfair got B1G (co-) player of the week and Eva got no awards. Eva still leads the league at 4.62 kills/set with redshirt sophomnore Landfair at second with 4.55. That should be a battle to the end.

The next two matches should be a LITTLE easier at Northwestern on Friday and IU here on Sunday. But after being swept by Maryland you never know.

Absolutely agree! IU just went into the state of Michigan and won both matches there (UofM and MSU). Wow. And took us to 5 sets at their place. This conference is a meat grinder - I believe Coach Dave said as much in one of his interviews.
Purdue can and should win both of these - I will be disappointed if they don’t, but not surprised given how stout the B10 is.
