I like Iowa, but really??

As was Purdue. It's obvious the officiating this year is bAd. However, it was bad for both teams. And it's been bad all season. The time to complain was before the season started.
agreed.

The officiating has been unprofessional. That's my gripe. I don't care about missed calls. Nobody likes them, but they occur.

Officials have been downright unprofessional.

So far this year we have had:
A receiver tackled resulting in an interception and ultimately a touchdown in a 4 point game.
A questionable unsportsmanlike call in the same game which iced it and appears to be the game that took our chance to win the division this year.
Another questionable unsportsmanlike in almost the exact same scenario setting up a home loss to a bad MAC team
A touchdown overturned by a referee that was literally banned from officiating for a period of time because of a poor performance at Ross Ade.
So when I see a 50 50 PI call being put on blast after the other team was spotted 30 yards on a previous drive.....

Waaah!

Can someone explain to me what the call(s) was, when Iowa was moved from there own 23 to Purdue's 47 yard line, please? Was it two penalties, or what?

15 yard kick catch interference. Brohm received an unsportsmanlike 15 yard penalty while explaining that the first penalty was BS
Okay, thank you. They announced the first, but I don't think they announced the second. I don't agree with the first call, but I totally understand the second. I wonder if the Big Ten office agrees with the first.

Kirk Ferentz apparently whined about the officiating in his presser.

I agree with Ferentz. The officiating was horrible. But that's not why they lost. The calls went both way and probably cancelled each other out.

The non-call on the horsecollar was inexplicable.

During the OSU game, for some reason the officials placed Knox's fumble where it went out of bounds, giving us a first down.

Just pointing out these bad calls that went for us. People only tend to remember the ones we get screwed on. Point is officiating seems much worse this year for some reason.

Dude anyone can complain about this if they want. The big ten officials are below what I would allow at most high school games

For anyone who's interested, here's part of Coach Brohm's press conference detailing the "explanation." Starts around the 9:46 mark.

Kick-catch interference plus an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty on Brohm for arguing with the ref about kick-catch interference.

Terry Wright's first TD catch was a push off as well. I was surprised they didn't call it.

Early in the season Brohm said that there would be repercussions for unsportsmanlike conduct penalties, and that everyone had to be accountable. Did he miss any "coaching time" as a result? :)

no he punished himself by spending more time in study and less home time

I've watched this play a few times and am 99% convinced that the ball went off an OSU player's helmet after leaving Knox's grasp. If that is what the ref called, it's a perfectly reasonable spot.

I am sure a memo circulated last week for the BTN officiating about the targeting not being called on MSU against our TE resulting a turnover that directly impacted the outcome.

One OSU DB was rejected for a targeting for much less than our TE hit, while NEB DB was being reviewed thoroughly during OSU-NEB game.

I will give some credit to BTN officiating for at least trying to correct..

Boiler Up!!

The officiating was not the reason you won. You hit the big plays. There were questionable calls both ways.
Kirk seldom says anything about officiating and it seems he was addressing when the calls were made.
So great win for you and good luck
Back atcha, BHoppy. Kick some butt this weekend!

I saw Brohm running the Ross-Aide bleachers after the game. :D (In fact, it was the conditioning coach who came out on the field and got the flag.)

It sure looked like that but Brohm said it was him. The announcers put the blame on the conditioning coach.Usually you see a sideline warning on that when it is applied to an assistant. I tend to believe it was Brohm as when the Iowa assistant was on the field all over the place and acting like a jack@$$ they did not reciprocate when Ferentz was calm as a cucumber.

He made himself watch the IU Minny game a second time.

I have to say, regardless of who the flag was against, I'm not a fan of the strength coach being on the field. Reminds me of the Crean assistant who would go out onto the court.

In the past, a lot of teams/programs have used the S&C coach as the "get back" coach.
And that's fine. When I say on the field, I mean literally between the white lines inbounds. A get back coach is there to prevent that, not promote it.

Love his daughters expressions while her dad is explaining the unsportsmanlike penalty he received. You can tell the young lady understands football.

I guess I don't understand.

No coach is supposed to be 'on the field' . . . or, 'inbounds.' No head coach, assistant, or strength coach. That's the reason teams (usually!) get a sideline warning.

A 'get back coach' is technically on the filed (sidelines).

He was on the field. The green part. The field of play. He shouldn’t be there. That’s all there is to understand.

well, duh, but that wasn't your point.

No, of course not. I'm addressing the context of your post/point. Shall we stick to that, or go down rabbit trails?

No need to pick a fight, 85. I’m just clarifying my post for you. You’re implying something I didn’t intend.

Oh, no, dude. Don't play that b.s.

There is no fight here. It's not on me. I'm responding (and discussing) YOUR comments.

If there's something you "didn't intend," walk it back, explain it, correct it, do whatever it is you need to do. Just OWN it. Don't pull same lame b.s. by claiming I'm picking a fight.

I said what I said. It’s in no way controversial nor was it picked on by anyone but you. I own it. If you read something else into it I’m sorry that’s on you.

Let’s recap. My post said the S&C coach should never be on the field. I later clarified what I meant was in the field of play, not on the sideline. My comparison was to the IU b-ball S&C coach under Crean. You know the one who would run out onto the court during timeouts and chest bump their players and go onto the court and complain about calls as if he was a coach? That was the entire point. The head coach has some leeway to do that. A S&C coach has no business doing it. That’s all. I’m done. Hope that helps. Peace brother.

Dude, you're not being picked on. Calm down.

If you consider that a clarification, so be it. That's not what it sounded at the time.

Have a wonderful week!

You do understand that you cry about others being banned, but that’s really a challenging Brian thing. If you say and do whatever you want, and Brian rebukes you and you say “yes sir, anything you say,” you can do whatever you want. If you challenge him you’re done.

That said, you talk to a lot of people like you’re their dad. You get that right
