Being from Northwest Indiana (I hate using the term The Region) I would have to agree on the Munster assessment. It's more expensive for housing, but it's a really nice town with great schools.
I also agree that Lake Central is a nice school. This is just my opinion, but if that happens to be your choice I would choose St. John. It is really growing, and it's very accessible to just about anywhere. Schererville is more established, but also nice.
