I’m calling it now Rose Bowl

you realize the Rose Bowl is usually reserved for the BIG 10 team that doesn't get invited into the NCAA Championship series ? if OSU makes the championship series, Michigan ( the BIG 10 second place team) goes to the Rose Bowl.

Are you inferring Purdue will finish second? I think that would be great. but I'd rather Purdue played for a championship.

I think you mean "imply", not "infer". You are the one doing the inferring, not him. And it's an incorrect inference to make based on his post.

I would presume his preference is that Purdue wins a National Title. But that's not what he's predicting.

In any case, I think there's a very good chance Purdue makes the B10 title game in at least 1 of the next 3 years.

Yes I do realize that the Rose Bowl is for Big Ten teams not invited to the NCAA Tournament. I’m looking at the Rose Bowl as baby steps to the National Championship.

Wouldn’t a Purdue ND National Championship game be incredible?

it's a tough call. Would Purdue fans and alumni prefer Purdue played in the Rose bowl? or as part of the national championship series? My guess is it would be 50/50

Louisville radio is blowing up today-as expected. One station had a good point, they felt Jeff is similar to when Urban was at Utah (pushing the local connections aside). You just know he's going to blow up at some point, have to agree. Just have this feeling with a few more key commitments, Purdue will competing on a level we haven't seen in a long time.

Have both. The Rose Bowl rotates as a championship game so just start winning everything and when the RB comes around next we are well poised to do both.

I'll mediate: Play in the Rose Bowl within 2 yrs and Championship series in 3 years.

If 50% of our fans prefer us playing in the Rose Bowl over a National Semifinal, then we have one dumb fanbase.

Please, I don't think you are being fair to coach Brohm. You are setting such high expectations that anything short of those will be a disappointment. I'm reading some people are expecting 10 wins and a New Year's Day bowl next year. I'm reading Rose Bowl and national championship within 2-3 years. Those may be hopes but certainly shouldn't be expectations. I will settle for 8 wins next year and giving these new recruits a year to adjust and get experience. To get 10 plus wins will take a huge jump in defensive talent especially a junk yard dog pass rush. Don't let euphoria become an obsession. I suspect even Coach Brohm will admit that he too has much to learn. I am very pleased but give the guy a reasonable chance. The biggest lesson and the thing I am most proud of is not the expected improvement in W/L record, but rather, what great character Jeff Brohm just displayed in this day of unethical behavior in college sports. His players and new recruits must be very proud of him. I know I am.

Not surprised that was the high point on a Louisville radio station today. Of course the big difference between the two situations is that Utah was in the Mountain West, had G5 facilities, and was limited in how much support they could throw at Urban. When he "blew up" he had to go SEC and B1G to reach his potential. Purdue, with B1G funding, is a place Brohm can "blow up" and his support structure will "blow up" along with him. Any B1G team with the right coach and support of the administration can make it big time. Look at what little old Northwestern is doing. Look what Wisconsin and Michigan State did in the past 20 years.

Once you get rolling in the B1G, particularly in the West with the current structure, there are very few steps up besides the NFL and a very exclusive club of schools.
