The hurricane ripped 2 huge trees out of my yard and blew out one window. I stayed up until 6:30 am and didn't even know the trees were knocked down until I left the house today. I knew about the window as that happened early on. At least nobody was hurt. I wouldn't recommend sitting at home through a hurricane to anyone.

I'm glad that nobody got hurt. I'm guessing that it was terrifying, particularly when the window blew out and you were wondering what was next.

Terrifying pretty much sums it up. The rain was being blown sideways and just pelting the home. And if you weren't already terrified, then all you had to do was turn on the local coverage where all they did was scare you.

My city has a big fishing pier that goes 864 feet out into the Gulf. At the end of the pier the water is 10'-12' deep. The force of the Hurricane pushed the water out to sea, leaving the fishing pier standing alone with NO WATER below! Imagine that if you can. Wow. I am so glad it's over and I'm alive to tell about it.

In 1991 I was working for a small marine shipping company and found myself in the direct path of Hurricane Bob that hit Road Island. I now live in Louisiana, not far from New Orleans and have had some brushes with strong storms. I am glad you made it out OK. I always have to grin laugh when some tells me such and such storm was only a Cat 2. Most people have never in their life seen what 110 MPH winds that last for hours at a time looks like. Its unbelievable! My in laws stayed in Naples and I told them they were out of their minds for doing so considering they had a lot of options available to them.

Any way, good luck with the clean up and remember that Rome was not built in a day.
