Hummel predicts 5 things for Boiler Ball in 15/16

Final Four is realistic if Kendall shoots that well next season.

I don't know how strong I'd equate those…..

Need a lot to go well to go to a Final Four - and a lot to go well that you cannot control (i.e. your draw in the bracket).

As of right now, I feel like this team might be one go-to shooter/scorer (that can handle the ball under pressure) away from being able to have a special season.

Perhaps someone already on the roster can become that type of go-to-guy in '15-'16 (Edwards, Davis, or Mathias are the most likely candidates, IMO).

Going back to the NCAA Tournament game this past season, the frontcourt play (aside from Haas and Smotherman playing below their potential) wasn't the issue, it was the backcourt play:

If our guards all follow Ray's example set last year & maximize improvement during the off-season, then our guard play can be good enough to make it to the FF. We're loaded with quality bigs, but to make a final four I think our guards as a group need to exceed expectations. I believe they can and will do it. This year could be the best opportunity these guys will have to get to the FF, and that has to be a strong motivator for them.

hopefully

It certainly would help to have someone step up big time (current player or new addition) in the backcourt.

Team speed could be a concern. They will obviously have great size (Hammons, Haas, Swanigan, Taylor, Edwards) but there aren't really guys you can point to as speedsters. Maybe the whole can be greater than the sum of its parts and it won't be a difference-making issue.

We could see multiple players losing serious weight if they move down a position. That will help with speed.

Swanigan at 260 was fine for C, but at PF, he could lose another 10-15 pounds

Raphael at 220....if he went down to 200, that could help his mobility and aspirations to play the point

Vince is pretty solid at 220

Going in the opposite direction, Jacquil Taylor at 240 is a monster and a legit FC

I'm curious as to whether Haas will slim down some. I know he's already lean for a 300 pounder or whatever he really is. But if he would trim down 20 or 25 lbs he might gain some athleticism. I hate seeing the big guy get his shot blocked.
