How will a new coach???

He won't. But he will recruit a few athletic players who can get to the basket or create and make their own mid range shots. Miami shot horribly from three vs Texas, but shot over 50% overall.

Perhaps the athletes coming in will help next year.

How will a new BB coach make our 3 point shooters make more shots???????????????????
I don't know that an old or new coach will "make" players hit more shots and understand the meaning behind the importance of hitting some 3s as you make. ;) Still, shooting can improve and to be honest it is a bit baffling. Good mechanics really help, but making that muscle memory takes getting shots up. There were a few players whose mechanics have some flaws and perhaps some... that maybe shouldn't have shot as many as they did. However, Players that could and should have hit them didn't at the level needed.

Physically, almost all the shots taken do not require much footwork adjustment. Most are already facing the basket on cross court feeds by Braden and even some ball side feeds as well. Zach and Braden also kick it out from the lane and so the receivers are already facing the basket and so the lower half of the body should make for an easier shot physically. Add in that most passes are in the shooting pocket and so any errors in a player's alignment should be few. We can't tell about the grip or generally the lift/thrust of the ball and follow through. We can see Caleb's wrist turn inward in some angles and Ethan has a very low shooting pocket that does get his hand under the ball and make for a longer lift and slower shot generally...but the style of play "should" make for an easier shot from the physical side.

Mentally...the first thing I noticed about Matt when he took over was the freedom he allowed to shoot the ball. I thought this was a dual sided blade in that Purdue would beat and lose to teams it shouldn't. That freedom has been verified by players verbally as well as seeing some that maybe shouldn't shoot...shoot. The only "mental" "potential" thing I can see is for some of the shots the question of whether someone like Zach should have the ball and so being unsure for a spit second whether to shoot the ball can be in play, but not that much actually for many of the shots taken and missed. Playing PG with Zach is a different mental issue than the other spots since that position in most shots is an after thought.

I hope getting shots up with some "fatigue" and under game like conditions takes place. I also hope that adding sets is not taking away time working on shooting...and I have no word to indicate it does. The only thing we know is that Purdue should have shot better behind the arc...and when they were not falling...maybe consider driving the ball or getting a relative close pull-up.

I think you are correct on Colvin & Heide.

But another great experienced guard/wing would be good in case Colvin or less likely Heide can't play B10 defense which has been the case with some frosh before last year.

I've stayed away from posting on this board for over a week now. I was so angry, accusing, directive, embarrassed. blaming, and had trouble getting this loss out of my head as it was "Here we go again".

I think blame can be go many ways. Sure the coaching, sure the shooting blues, sure the lost "deer in the headlights" look with the players, recruiting key pieces, chemistry, etc.. Work must be done in my non-expert opinion. How do some teams have this figured out, and we don't?

Some have questioned getting the players motivated with that killer instinct. I think coaches can only do this to a point. I know my boss can motivate me a little, but not a lot. It's inside me that matters and makes that difference. I hear we may have a player or two coming in that bring questions that they have some attitude issues or coachability concerns. I actually think that we need that. Smith is a good example and I want more like him. I call it savvy competitiveness. What do they say "Nice guys finish last"?

That said, I won't be over this pain for a while, but more to life I tell myself. Onward.

Since Colvin is the only guy coming in I guess you are implying he has attitude issues. Who is the other player you are slighting?
And yes Colvin, but more just the hearsay on Twitter and here, with coaching change reasons and his possible connection. I probably should have worded that different and said hearsay or accounts of.

I guess my point is that when I hear or read something that alludes something to this affect, I like that. Smith is a good example. If I read something about players like Colvin or Catchings, or whomever, I like it. I like that aura about them.

Does Colvin lack coachability, or did his coach lack ability? 🤔
I'm the first one to question how the media or posters vision it. If someone does something stupid and elbows an opponent in the face on purpose, he is perceived to be a dirty player. Usually that's not the case. I think there is a lot of merit in what you say. It can be very obvious when a coach is below the player's or team's ability. So who gets the blame when he leaves or is fired? Many times the main star player who happens to have a dad who was a great athlete and wants the best for his kid.
