Watched in a SC bar with no sound, then rewatched again when I got home but hard to judge the crowd noise.
Anyone who was in the house want to comment on the environment?
I think the 2 loudest games I've ever been to in Mackey was the '93 OT game against IU with Big Dog and the OSU game where E'Twaun dropped 39. You literally couldn't understand the person next to you even as they screamed in your ear.

awesome as usual... especially first half when DM was going nuts!

(unfortunately it was balls hot inside/upper level... one downfall to 60-65 in February!)

It was incredibly hot in there. As expected is was incredibly loud. It was incredibly hard to have any conversation but that's fine by me. Almost all of the crowd suck around for the trophy presentation and senior night. It was great.

As others said, it was loud, hot and tight. Kim was telling me that three times the refs sent Crean to the box as he was trying to help guard Purdue on the court. God luv her...I miss some of that action. :) I didn't think there was as many IU fans as in the recent past, and seeing a few with the clown pants on my mind wandered to child abuse. IU is very talented...hard to believe they don't win more. IN my limited time of watching thousands of games for a little past 5 decades, I can't really recall someone that whines as much as Thomas Bryant. Lastly, my post at half disgusted with the players going for a knockout punch in another thread when Purdue was in double bonus by letting a few threes fly was only slightly readable since I couldn't see the print and auto correct plays on some words.

I was concerned when I saw the refs. I prefer at least one ref that is taller due to their tendencies. The little bald headed guy that made a lot of calls made one on Haas (God Luv'em they won't let him have a chance) actually blew his whistle before Bryant made contact on Haas by driving wildly, charging into Haas with a lowered shoulder....blew his whistle and gave Haas a foul before ANY contact even happened. THAT was one of those WTF? moments.

I've been to a lot of games in Mackey. This was one of the best. As others said, it was very hot. At the end I felt like I needed to hit the showers. Loved the celebration afterwards. Made the drive back to the Fort very enjoyable!!

Felt sorry for the janitors with all the gold confetti, but that was awesome at the end....

If possible I like to be in the seat 45 minutes or so before the game. There was a time that teh stadium was maybe half full and still loud when IU gathered at court to go to the lockers early. It was very loud as was the initial music, but wondered if there was piped in noise a that point since I didn't think the crowd was that big...although Paint Crew had a lot in place

unfortunately, I feel like all the whistles have an impact on the game environment. Granted, I know part of the strategy is to get the other team in foul trouble but a lot of time that kills the momentum of the team drawing the fouls and basically hushes the crowd.
I'd like to see the refs let them play a little more and play through some contact.
The refs in the tourney might not have such a quick whistle.

The refs were letting them play on the boards, just calling it tighter in other areas.

Paint crew was very loud last night. You're right, it was very loud even before most of the "regular" crowd got seated. I had my ass firmly planted with 50:00 still on the pre-game clock. I wanted to take it all in last night!!

it was loud but it doesnt compare to the level when knight was coaching. the noise level went from high to insane, never was quiet. last night was as loud as i have heard it this year but my buddy agreed with me that knight brought out the insane noise levels in mackey

Purdue's sound system is amateur hour still. Doubtful.

I'm not sure it was Knight - but much better IU teams.

In my limited life Purdue hasn't had too many teams with the "abilities" of this IU team...course I have no data to discern the stupid play by players and coach and/or any interaction between them

This didn't seem as loud as the OSU game when E'twaun was on fire, but my ears are still ringing this morning. The game itself didn't allow for many moments for Mackey to really get crazy during a defensive possession, mostly due to the number of fouls (48).

Sounds like it was incredible. ;)

It was hot but that added to the fun to me. it got real loud but it was tough to sustain because of the whistles. There was never a huge build and blowup because of the lack of flow, but it was a heck of lot of fun.

The confetti burst scared my wife out of her shoes haha

The beginning of the game was really intense. The crowd was jacked. I wasn't there but I guess the OSU game was overall louder from start to finish.

I saw something where they measured 122 db last night. That's awfully loud.

The confetti at the end was really cool and as mentioned above most fans stayed around for the post-game festivities.

As the team was jumping up and down, they played "we are the champions" and then a couple other songs that the entire student sections danced to.

Three Amigos/Alford games were fantastic. I remember it being very loud and crazy for those games, but admittedly I was not completely sober then either!! The Knight/Keady dynamic added a lot to the rivalry then and both teams were very good which really helps. I can still remember losing our minds when Mitchell put the exclamation on the win with the reverse dunk. Good times.

'84 Illinois was the loudest for me, personally....took more than a week for the effects to wear off (if they ever did).

For a non-advertised, non-sellout.....'82 exhibition against the Soviet National team comes darn close.

That behind the dunk was after Todd came out at halftime nodding his head up and down letting everyone know...Purdue was going to win this.
