How much more can Carsen and Biggie improve this season?

You always hear that young teams tend to have more upside as the season goes on, as they have the capacity to learn more during a season

I am very happy with our core of upperclassmen. PJ, Dakota, Vince and Haas have been very solid and no doubt, will still continue to improve

But I am wondering if its the underclassmen - esp Carsen and Biggie (maybe Cline too) - who really defines our ceiling in the NCAA tournament

1. Carsen needs to develop a mid range shot off those drives....sometimes he drives in to far and needs to asses situations better where a 6 to 8 foot floater or pull up might be a better option....or if he can't do that....simply dribble or pass it back out when he is totally covered on his drives. He lacks judgement to know when he is or will be totally covered inside....which worked for him in HS, but not against 6-7+ guys who have the quickness he did not see in HS.

2. DM needs to be more assertive. He is a great team guy that takes what is given, but it would help the team if he could fake and dish or fake and drive in to a 10-15 foot jumper. Just not sure he is quick enough to do that in all games, but I think he is smart enough to if allowed in the game plan. He has such a high IQ I would like to see him used more in situations/plays where he can abuse the other team more with his passing as he already does with his shooting.

3. Swanigan needs to continue focus on ball control and better decision making.

4. Both CE & CS need to stop taking 3s when there is absolutely no one is in defensive rebounding position.

5. Coaching staff is really who needs to go to work on these things - when you see tendencies, how to develop situations and methods to work these kids out of and around their own weakness to make the team better.

Both CE and CS still force too much, which is definitely something that can continue to improve on throughout the season. CE has already made great progress in that respect since early in the year.

Agreed - Swanigan needs to continue keeping his turnovers down (he's done pretty well, but still has games that are a bit out of control). Would like to see Swanigan pass out to the perimeter more, but not sure if that will lead to more turnoveres.
