.....will it be before the BIG realigns the conference again? No way do they keep OSU,MSU, and now MICH with Harbaugh in the same DIV! Doesn't have great theatre for the BIG championship game! I give it two more years.

I think maybe when Purdue and another team drop out of the conference! Sorry, but with the money being thrown around I do not see how Purdue can justify being in the Big Ten anymore! Call me crazy, but I just am looking at the stands and the commitment by the BOT and this says it all for me!

No way Purdue gives up its share of the BTN money.

Yup, and they can't kick us out.

The people who want us to leave the BIG are IDIOTS!

They'll re-align, when they add a couple of more schools.

Until then, it'll be lopsided like the Big 12 was.

Who do you think goes where? I cant picture any teams moving right now.

I also dont think the big ten gets realligned anytime soon.

Its lopsided for sure, but they want to stay away from really long travel times both for cost and traveling time. That means no guaranteed crossovers which means if Michigan and OSU play, they play on the same side.

I suppose I'd like to see it moved around, but have no issue with it.

I don't have any issues either with it. Just saying they want big theatre in the championship games. Things have a way of hopefully balancing out. But if those three continue to dominate(Harbaugh will bring MI back) they will have to tweak it somewhat. After watching OSU last night they seem miles ahead of everyone else..........

Re: Man and Beast Divisions

This is actually the most fair alignment I have seen, when considering basketball and football. I think you are on to something here!

Travel would be horrendous for Man divisions.

Re: Man and Beast Divisions

Think of it like those Ancient Alien theorists on the History Channel now. Aliens came down, did an experiment where they put an alligator head on a man's body...except this time they went all super crazy and tried a buckeye nut and a man's body.

The BIG is more than just athletics. It's a fellowship of research institutions that work together for research grants. The University of Chicago is actually a founding member of the conference, but doesn't participate in athletics.

Re: Man and Beast Divisions

Gotta have seven in each division. The Buckeye looks more like a man than a beast. I actually floated this idea on KHC when the BIG was looking for division names several years ago shortly after Nebraska joined. It still works since MD and Rutgers are beast and man respectively. For women's sports it could be "Beauty" and "Beast.", that would really get the PC admins and faculty jacked-up.
