I just went to a Purdue basketball site and they mentioned a couple of months ago Dakota and PJ made some academic achievements. When I root for our kids, I love knowing the contributions they make within the community and in the classroom. Can someone please elaborate on this for me?

Why isn't this article on Swannigan all over the media? This is the type of story I want to read. I also would like to see more posters emphasize this. I love it that Purdue has a great education and they have student athletes and we are not a one and done school. Biggie was two and done, but he worked hard academically and I am very PROUD of him.

Biggie will succeed at whatever he sets his mind to do, because he's a grinder. Not sure he's capable of doing anything halfway.

Biggie was a kid who for years had a very unstable home life. Bouncing from school to school, town to town, eating nothing but junk food, it's a miracle he isn't dead of a heart attack. Roosevelt Barnes is an amazing man and saved that young mans life. Yes Caleb is a success but the real thanks is all Rosie.

I'm sorry to learn that Owlbird. I can't imagine anything tougher than losing a child. We expect to bury our parents and know there is a good chance we will bury a sibling or spouse, but a child doesn't fit into our expectations. The others there is a sense of mystery, hopeful that he or she had a good life. The child...you know the whole life story and understand there was still things in front of him or her. My condolences on the loss of your two sons :(

Yes it's been rough lately. It's never good to have to bury one of your kids.

Hi Heller: You don't know me from Adam, but I lost 3 boys, but 1 I brought back to life. If you ever want to talk about it with someone with a similar experience, please call me at 214-485-2494. Today around 3 would be good.

We lost my sister to breast cancer. I know it tore my dad up. He kept her last message on his answering machine for years.

Owlbird, Heller, you and Gold & Black...My condolences to all of you...not from personal experience, but from friends I can catch only a glimpse of the pain endured

Sorry I didn't read this until later. Thanks for the offer. I'll probably take you up on it some time in the near future.

When people suffer loss, it is always good to hear words from friends. However, anyone who goes through loss, please feel free to call, because people feel a special bond when going through a similar loss. I am the eternal optimist and hopefully I can help. Please call today or tomorrow though please, as I am leaving town.

Thank you-I lost one of my twin boys at 4&1/2 and the other twin had several real trying years.I lost my oldest boy in 1988 at age 28 (buried him on Christmas eve).He had been a surrogate Father to my youngest son who I fathered at age 47.He taught him baseball and basketball in my place.I feel nothing worse can happen to me as I have been to hell and back twice.I do agree 100% with you no parent should outlive their children.

I saw that the team had a team GPA of over 3.0. Of course, one player with a 3.8 can balance out a player a 2.2. But that's a very good figure for a team playing in the upper echelon of basketball. Knock on wood, we've seen very little academic issues and I think that's a credit to the basketball support staff, as well as the coaches for the quality of kids they are bringing in.
