If you can be that successful in that location it would seem Purdue would be a cake walk. Big question would be if he can recruit FBS 4-5 star players.

They also have a big recruiting advantage in the Dakotas and other Mountain states. Not a huge talent pool, but they get plenty of good prospects willing to stay local and win FCS national championships.

If I had a choice between MAC or Mountain West vs. NDSU...I'm going NDSU every time. Better facilities there and chance to win a national championship every year.

How about Mark Farley from my other alma mater - same conference as North Dakota State ? (University of Northern Iowa -UNI)

He's got a 130-62 record, 7 conference championships in 15 yrs, 4 quarter finals and one championship game. Can he recruit? He's put 10 in the NFL already.

PS His teams play a "LOT" like Tillers & he already beat Iowa State this year. (Iowa won't play them any more ! - too scary)

PSS I hope we don't schedule them - we'd LOSE !

real good coach.

Again, if he was a guy that many saw him as having the capabilities to coach at the major division 1 level, he would have been scooped up by now. Not saying he isn't a good coach...but maybe his limits are in the FCS (and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that).
You could have said the same thing about a 53 year old coach who had spent 6 years at Wyoming...

we aren't going to get a good coach...we need to get back to average.

Pretty sad if true.

They are way too fast for us ! They recruit speed and tough nosed athletes & not necessarily kids with stars after their names
And, . . . even more importantly they know how to recruit big, strong, mobile LINEMEN.

They would whip our ass

They could name their score on us. Fargo in the winter has nothing to do with them being a much better football team than we are at this point. We are in football hell and it's going to take even a great hire awhile to get us out of this mess. We don't even have a dozen true P5 players.

The guy is successful WITHOUT recruiting FBS 4-5 star players. He's getting the kids carrying a grudge for having been passed over, and he's winning.

The thing is, the guy that recruited the players who are contributing right now as NDSU were recruited by Craig Bohl (now HC at Wyoming). I would rather get Bohl here as he is the man proven to build and maintain the program rather than the current HC. We are already experiencing what the issues can be hiring a man who didn't bring in his own talent and establish his own culture long enough to see what kind of HC we were really getting. I think the Purdue community wants a proven commodity.

Just to let you know, but NDSU has been a powerhouse in 1AA or FCS long before Bohl got there. He didn't build it, he just improved it, and now Kleiman (sp) is putting his own mark on the program! If he chooses to leave, I think he will do a good job.

My point is, Purdue's path to short term success is probably lower-tier players combined with a great coach that can adapt to the talent he has. The 4-5 star guys may then come in time.
