They are assuring themselves on the other site that Brohm will be leaving shortly.

It is possible. But he may also like the B1G and Purdue. He may have a strong sense of loyalty. He and family might like WL. Staying a long time is not out of the question. Plus, Purdue would look a lot better to a new hire.

I think IU fans are getting nervous.

They should be. Many student-athletes will now look to West Lafayette instead of Gloomington especially when their FB program is being run by a high school coach.

Actually Allen is a former high school coach but to hell with accuracy. :)

I'm guessing the realization that they never managed to break .500 during the worst 4 years in Purdue football history is setting in.
And the realization that the window has closed to really make progress in state.
Better look elsewhere for their "marquee" win...

HDog, the long history of the IU-Purdue football series is very lop-sided, and not in your favor. Yes, you did have a nice 4-year run but I will be surprised if it is extended. Brohm is a better long term bet than is Allen. He has a better established history at this level.

Unless he leaves and we rehire Hazell they shouldn't be that excited. They need to be concerned with their own program and its high school coach right now.

No one cares what IU football fans thank.

You guys are hilarious. Any time the word Purdue is posted on the IU board someone over here has to report it. Lol

As you respond to a thread on our board mentioning IU within about 90 minutes of it being posted .......
I peruse your board all the time because I like to be informed, so I have seen numerous poss like this. Sorry if I hit a nerve.

Thoughts on Brohm/Purdue through 3 games?
I'm personally not surprised by what has been going on through 3 games. I think Brohm is a big hire and a very good coach. Hazell recruited good players, but he just couldn't coach them. Brohm has them believing. I think Michigan will be a good measuring stick to where your program truly is.

I look forward to following them throughout the season and what is shaping up to be a very competitive Bucket game.

The 7th ranked team in the nation is more than a measuring stick. Good lord. Was OSU a measuring stick for IU?

Hazell recruited good players? His recruiting classes each year for 4 years was dead last in the conference.

I agree, but I hope we are both wrong.

I don't care. I haven't been on your board in quite some time because I really dont care. It is just really funny when someone comes to this board to mock fans for going to their board.

I think Brohm will be a great coach. I think he has gotten more out of his players than I thought he would. It is still too early to know how the season will turn out. This weekend will be a good measuring stick. Michigan is a tough team, even if they haven't been blowing anyone out yet.

Minnesota is a measuring stick. Michigan is a top 10 team Purdue has no business competing with in year 1 of a rebuild. Brohm shocks Michigan on Saturday.. he is likely on his way to 7 or 8 wins and is years ahead of schedule. Recruiting kicks up instate. Lights out Hoosiers. Measuring stick. Ha!

While the sample is quite impressive, I will reserve judgement until we get into the B1G. We haven't had many injuries and our depth was suspect coming into the season. It is a night and day difference between this staff and Hazell's. This team competes and plays hard. Trusting the message that Coach Brohm preaches has parlayed into a great start to the season. Is it 97 all over again? I don't know but I like the product and competitiveness

I think that recruiting will definitely go up next year given how this season is going. Especially if we upset a team or two and become bowl eligible.

The IU FB coach is even more goofy than Crean was. He's like a sixth grade cheerleader on the sidelines and sounds so ignorant when he's in front of a mic.

He was on the Dakich Show earlier this week right before Brohm came on and I got that same vibe from him. Certainly enthusiastic but didn't really carry himself like you would expect a college coach would. I suppose as long as he wins that can work for him but when he struggles they will turn on those goofy antics just like they did with Crean.

Then how does it feel losing four in a row to a high school in Gloomington? Oh, thanks for the softball. :)
Nice try considering your best coach in the last 30 years was fired and Glass handed the keys over to a guy who has never had true success. Arguably, Lee Corso was a better hire than the one Glass made.

Hard to argue that IU could have had a some what good pick from a young and up coming coordinator that could have continued the path that Wilson had created...inevitably I see Allen continuing to coach for the next 3-5 years and slowly regressing the program to 2-4 wins per year unless Glass continues his trend of scheduling the absolute easiest possible non-conference opponents. The guys that came to IU to play for an innovating offensive coach in Wilson won't be signing up for Glass (a known defensive coach).

The key component for Purdue is that Brohm is a well respected offensive mind and on the defensive side Holt is a well respected defensive mind with former HC experience. Arguably Brohm allows Holt to run his side of the ball with little to no interference and that bodes well to retain Holt for an extended amount of time.

Not sure that's true as Brohm has said he does give input into the defense. Mainly it sounds like he reminds them that QB's don't like defensive guys in their face and then leaves it up to Holt on how to accomplish that. So Brohm is active at stating the obvious to the defense so they don't feel like he's ignoring them. ;)

I bet Brohm also gives suggestions as to what he would try offensively against Purdue.

Yet Brohm is winning with them. Just shows a good coach will coach up kids and get them to play. And who cares about rankings.....many services miss on several kids yearly.

I think OSU was a good measuring stick for IU. Showed we could play with them for a half, but don't have the depth to keep up a whole game. IU needs better players along both lines to be able to keep up all game long. Just not there yet.

Well, the Hoosiers should easily beat their remaining non conference opponents, but it is tough to have to open league play with OSU,PSU and Michigan.

To be fair, OSU has looked pretty pedestrian and IU arguably played the best football I have ever seen them play for a half. Cobbs almost single handily kept IU in that game the first half with not 1 but 3 amazing catches (2 on the first drive). IU played out of their mind in the first half and I haven't seen another half remotely close to that level since this season.

Purdue on the other hand has shown a propensity to exert their will on a team...this weekend will be an incredible measuring stick for Brohm's rebuild. If Purdue gives another showing similar to that of UL, it is going to bode very well for Purdue the rest of the season as the only other likely loss is Whisky. Minny, Rutgers, Nebraska, Illinois, Northwestern, Iowa, and Indiana would be considered....at worst, a toss up game. Given that three of those more difficult matchups are at home (Minnesota, Nebraska, and Indiana) along with getting Rutgers on the road....Purdue is looking at a very real potential for a 7-5 season if improvement continues and playing hard is maintained.

It's amazing how quickly this thing has flipped, beginning of the season I was just hoping for a couple wins and to at least half way look like a football team. Now I am almost to the point I expect us to make a bowl game.

what it showed me is that OSU didn't take iu serious. felt they could step on the gas whenever they wanted or needed to.
