Serious question here. It appears Purdue forgot who they were towards the end of the game at Iowa... Players or Coaching?... I thought I got blacklisted earlier this week on IU's site for being critical of CTC... But apparently, it open season on all quacks. If you guys think it was coaching, is it about time for a change as well? I couldn't believe the NCAA loss you guys had last year. Complete & utter breakdown... But I thought it was more on the coach than players. And that wasn't the first time CMP flubbed the end of a game... Just checking up on the confidence level of CMP's leadership... Because they're warming up the tar and plucking the chickens over on IU's free board... I hope this isn't a habit that has reared it's ugly head yet again... Good luck the rest of the season...

Both players and coaches, but when that is the case or happens, it is the coach that has to be the one to step up and address it...especially if there is a lack of strong leadership from a player (or players), which is something that is haunting both IU and Purdue.

Crean's ability to recruit has created his problems, as he simply has too much talent to not win and/or to lose to teams that it has or how it has...the opposite is the case with Painter, as it is his inability to recruit that has created his problems.

Crean has done a lousy job...Painter has been equally bad unfortunately...a slim chance of a coaching change maybe there, but no chance at all of one at Purdue.

Purdue absolutely needs a change. This team is losing games that they absolutely should win. When a coach REFUSES to adjust or change things up when it is clear that the current status quo is not working, then you have a problem. And that is painter. He is too stubborn in his ways to ever change things up.

When we are getting beat by ball screens over and over, and they are shooting 57% from the floor, it is apparent you need to change up your defense if only for a few possessions to try to get them off their rhythm. But not painter

So take your fishing pole and troll back to the PeegStye where you seem to belong. You'll get few bites here.

purdue getting outscored in the paint 40 to 20 by anyone, let alone a 4 freshman iowa team without any good post players is absolutely inexcusable. A lot of the paint points we give up as well is from penetrating guards.

The first half I have noticed Swanigan doesn't even try on defense in the post, he just puts his hands up and doesn't move, and let's anyone go around him for a score, to not get in foul trouble. That is a problem

I'm pretty sure that's by design. We can't afford to have Biggie in serious foul trouble. On the road you can't do much more than just stand with your arms straight up to challenge a shot. Based on the kind of competitor he is I'm guessing it just about kills him to have to play that way. If I recall he mostly held his own defending 1-on-1 post ups. It was the high ball screen defense IMO that allowed so many compromising situations in the paint. I'm kind of surprised more teams haven't exploited this as it has been a weakness for years that was somewhat mitigated by AJ's shot blocking abilities.

I believe you're going to see even more physical contact by other bigs against Haas now the refs have decided it's OK to slam him to the floor a couple of times a game with no fouls called.

I was once told that there is NO coach that thinks he can beat Purdue with the high ball screen or pick and roll!! I wonder if those Iowa kids were free lancing and running that shit on there own??

You can pin every close loss on anyone you want. I haven't seen many coaches coach a perfect game. There will always be decisions that can be second-guessed after the fact.

The fact is, many fans here cried for years about how Raphael Davis was a liability on offense and thought we'd be better off without him this year. Then those same fans are shocked when good players like Hart, Mason, and Jok go off on us and we have nobody that can slow them down. This team has a weakness. Actually a few if you want to be honest. Not everything is a coaching adjustment at this point. You can do things to try to cover up a deficiency but it will leave you exposed in another area.

The way this team is built, we don't have great perimeter defenders and there's little that can be done about it. The good news is that eve when these players are having big games against us, we are still in spots to win them. Our best hope is that the players decide to make taking care of the basketball a higher priority. Cutting down on our turnovers would be a huge thing for this team and many of those are things that are within our control.

You nailed it TC. It is the turnovers that they can and need to fix. They do that and we win these types of games. What would our record be if we had 5-6 less turnovers per game?
