Can’t believe it’s been 50 years since that Tommy Roe song.

Seriously, Coach Hazell warrants special applause for delivering a tough win at Illinois and for keeping the team together, not to mention himself, after all the crap he’s had to hear, understandably, with the results of the past three years and whatever that was at Maryland.

Regardless of how we’ve done, he’s endured and has always been positive. He’s always shown class, and he deserves praise for his manner. He's remained a model representative for Purdue, quite the opposite of many in these forums.

I do feel good for him and the entire program. Such wins have been few and far between since he has been coach and he has stayed above the fray with many fans taking vicious and personal shots at him online. That can't be easy to ignore. I hope he puts some wins together throughout the remainder of this season and I wish him well going forward whether that be at Purdue or elsewhere.

I do not know how many people saw his reaction after the win. It made me feel bad for him but happy he is our coach. I do not think we can pin our current woes solely on him.

I agree with this. He is not the reason we are in the dumps in football. He might not be the right coach for Purdue, but I don't think he is the only reason we have problems.

he does seem like a really good person, but lots of good people who just aren't head coaches , maybe he is too nice which could be the reason he kept his assistants so long , we were all behind him from the start, but when team looked bad and got beat every game, what can you say

He's done. He has been done for at least a year. His contract and Burke's lame duck status have kept him in his job. I don't hate the guy but come on, his recruiting is terrible and continues to be terrible. I feel good knowing that he will land on about 2 million dollars as the door closes on his career at Purdue.

You got to be kidding me. You are "happy he is our coach."???
I do agreed that you can't blame just the head coach for a bad program, but for someone who get out coached all the time and can't recruit and probably will walk away with millions of dollars, I don't feel sorry for him at all. F#ck no, sorry.

Hazell is a lucky man. Purdue made him a millionaire and he has done absolutely nothing to deserve it.
