Hiring Process? hazell post an ad on Craigslist...5-6 people reply...he hires the only one that accepts the offer...pretty simple.

I wonder if Uncle Rico might be available for the offensive coordinator position:

How exactly does the hiring process work with coordinators? Is it strictly up to Hazell and how does that work with him out on the road recruiting this week?
Since we have gone the failed Bears coordinator route in the past, lets go for Marc Trestman who will probably be fired in Baltimore. Mike Martz is out of work. Ron Turner maybe if things go bad with FIU.

Coach logs onto this board. Picks the top 2 posters of logical, reasoned comments.
Hell, I'd do the job for $100,000. Nobody ever stopped my slant pattern to the '84 Topaz by the stop sign at N. Denwood and Oak in Dearborn, Michigan. At least I pass vertically in my offense!

I will work on the cheap and have had about as much success as Shoop. That makes me qualified to work in the current regime, and I'd be willing to make goodwill appearances at as many varsity pickleball, synchronized swimming, and co-ed field hockey events as Morgan demands. I'm the perfect candidate!

I've got some experience in this arena, here's how it will basically go down:

"Hey Steve? How's it going buddy? Hey, Morgan Burke here. Hey listen, ....Steve? Hello? Steve you still there?"

I still think they should have a weekly "coach the team" contest on campus - winning student gets to be head coach for a week.
How could it be worse?
I mean, three D1 wins in three years....

The obvious answer is they walk the three blocks to West Lafayette High School and hire the whole dang coaching staff. West Side is much better coached than Purdue, as evidenced by their trip to the state finals this year. If they are really serious, they can drive over the river to Central Catholic and hire their entire staff. CC wins state championships more frequently than Purdue wins games.

In some ways, I think Martz would be interesting. At one time he was a really good Offensive Coordinator in the NFL. The NFL has figured him out, but I wonder how he would do at the college level.

I think Martz had criticism for being Shoopian... taking really simple concepts and explaining them in such a way that made NO sense. His early offenses were something else. I think he got too fancy.

In response to your claim about CC, I am quite surprised Kevin O'Shea hasn't gone to a smaller college to either HC or OC for a time (Wabash, Frankling, St. Joe, etc.) and then move on up. I worked for Kevin for a year and his concepts are great and his offense gets guys in to positions to win one on one matchups. There is a reason his teams continually win...because he (and all of the O'Shea's) are damn good coaches.
