Obviously some are more "reliable" than others.

http://bracketmatrix.com

CBS, ESPN and Fox Sports has us as a 4 seed. But a majority of others have us as a 5 seed (many of the less reliable ones, but also SI, SN and Yahoo.

Cincy/SMU are widely considered 4/5 seeds, so the outcome of that game could actually shake things up a little - i.e. if SMU wins, could bump Purdue which is likely very borderline 4/5.

Looking at some individually...

CBS/Palm has us as the last #4 seed.

ESPN/Lunardi has us as a #4 seed playing Winthrop in Orlando, with the #5 seed being Virginia.

Fox Sports/Mandel has us as a #4 seed playing Bucknell in Orlando, with the #5 seed being Cincy.

SI has us as a #5 seed playing UNC Wilmington in the South, with the #4 seed being West Virginia

Sporting News has us as the top #5 seed.

Yahoo has us as the top #5 seed - and comments that it's a likely 4/5.

YIKES ... kick that SI projection to the curb

The above post is all one needs to empower those who say a LOT of the tourney is about matchups.

I mean, WVU is an exhausting team to watch on TV, let alone play I'm sure. However, let's not forget Purdue played and beat WVU a couple times recently (although they weren't quite AS good). We haven't done well against the press historically, but we have some different personnel now. And we also played WVU in a scrimmage prior to this season. I don't think any 5/4 match-up is going to be easy. You also have to keep in mind that we have a team that's in theory somewhat built to do well against a WVU team if you can get past the pressure - there's a big if in there! :)

Oh, I totally agree that all those projected 5s look tough. To be honest, there have been a couple of folks suggesting UNW is a sleeper. And please, no one take this ball and run anywhere with it .. just saying they are respected by some people I read.

I'm sure there are fans elsewhere hoping they don't get in PU's bracket.

any four seed or 5 seed is going to be tough. Looking at the seedings, it's possible one of Oregon, UNC, UCLA or Kentucky could end up being a #3 seed. And there is a team deserving being a #1 seed, who will fall to being a #2 seed, even after winning their tourney. To be one of the best, you have to be willing to play and beat the best.
