Trump isn’t President and may never be again.
There's one word in this sentence which is why people still talk about - and
have to talk about - Donald Trump.
If that word wasn't "may" but instead "will", I personally wouldn't ever speak about Trump. But until he is off the political stage for good, he
needs to be talked about, denigrated, and exposed for what he is.
If talking about the LEADING CANDIDATE for the Republican presidential nomination in 2024 is TDS, then sure, I have TDS too. When he becomes politically irrelevant, I will never talk about him again, just as I never talked about him before calendar year 2016.
YOU may not vote for him in a primary, but I have zero doubt you would in the general again... and that's the problem. As long as he is potentially viable for Republicans in the general, he has outsize influence on the party. And his influence on the party is NOT a positive development for this country. The candidates he's endorsing are - broadly - idiots, and the only qualification they have is that they're willing to stand by Trump's lies.
Now, I think if he gets nominated again, he may give up 400 electoral votes this time, and that would be truly awesome... but I seriously hope it doesn't get there.
As I've said before, the longer the party is wed to Trump, the more deeply entrenched the Democratic hold on power will become.
We need to separate from Trump, win the House and/or Senate in 2022 to stave off the progressives, and then put forth a viable candidate in 2024 to combat whomever the Democrats put up. I think if Trump is put up, you're probably getting Biden again. If you put up someone else, you might go up against Newsom or someone else more imminently beatable.
But Trump isn't beating Biden (or probably anyone else) in 2024. Make him irrelevant.
