Hazell locks up another...

I'm actually surprised that he's able to land anybody. No knowledge of who your coordinator will be on either side of the ball nor what "system" will be in place.

Saw it is a DT who is only 17 years old... now can this kid be an excuse for a few years since Morgan said we are bad because 18/19 year olds play against 21/22 year olds. He wont be 21 for 4 years...

Once I see a 1 star recruit sign, I'll pick up a torch and pitchfork, as we can get no lower.

But wow, I'm amazed that he can get ANYONE to commit to this dumpster fire without direction, let alone a freakin' 2 star stud.

// eye for talent
/// just cuz

Just as an aside I believe Terbush was a 1 star who got bumped a week after committing

This is why Burke's decision to fire the coordinators will not significantly help the issues with football. Hazell has not been able to recruit, which really surprises me. Burke is right that there is no margin for error with this team as the talent level is mid to low MAC level.

Right there with you. I thought DH2 would at least be a much better recruiter than DH1.
As for two star recruits, yes there is less margin for error, but that is largely what we are getting at this point. If they blow up they will likely decommit for greener pastures. That's just where we are at. Hopefully we can at least get kids who want to work their asses off and do whatever it takes to win.

This was not true at the time. He was listed as a 1 star for about a couple weeks after committing

He was probably a zero star. That meant they hadnt evaluated him. Go back and search the year. There are zero 1 stars. 2005 was the last year they assigned 1 star.

don't have a problem 2 star DL's, they just need to get strong and plug the holes. I'm more critical of getting higher ranked LB's and DB's so they can be playmakers.

It won't help because it was done too late. Coaches frequently aren't able to hire their ideal coordinators in year one because by the time they switch jobs themselves, people are often committed to the following year where they are at. It's not uncommon at all to see coordinators fired after the first year - so they can get someone they would prefer.

The problem is we kept our coordinators for not 1, not 2, but 3 years. So now your coach is basically a lame duck and you're trying to hire two coordinators.

Everything with this has been too little, too late. The fact that Burke had to steer firing these 2 coordinators after 3 years is baffling to me. It's scary that Hazell seemed to be happy with them...

the problem to me and what is more scary is that the OC and DC chose to stick around. i'm convinced that DH was calling the shots and determined the style of football the mighty boilers played. why wouldn't those 2 guys find a job somewhere else when they saw what was going on
