From a self-proclaimed and proudly Anti-Painter in March Boilermaker, he had the guys dialed in tonight. The last 30 minutes of the game we played clean and didn’t get turned over on offense, and our on-ball and high ball screen defense was the best I’ve seen all season. Texas not an elite offensive team, but we made them work for every single basket.
If the refs call the contact as the rule book dictates, every scholarship player on Texas fouls out and we win in a rout. But as it was proud of how the guys rallied, took every blow from Texas literally and figuratively, and didn’t let the physicality disrupt what we were trying to run on offense. Definitely not something that could be said about this team in December. I like to call the way MSU likes to play Thug Ball. This was Thug Ball on steroids. Hope the guys get a day to ice down and rest.
Time for St. Peter’s, no overlooking them. Shaheen Holloway may be the next big thing but time to end that run.
