Harbaugh

Getting the brohm sense that he's always got one foot out the door. Only a matter of time before he bolts. They have a te and two dl commits from illinois.
Interesting. I would think as a "Michigan Man" he'd see leaving now as unfinished business (no NC), but with the rapidly changing & evolving landscape (man, with visual imagery like that I should be writing for some sports thingy!) of college football maybe he sees it's time to hit the road.

Next Colts coach.

A rumor I started the week before we played Mich in Indy. Never got much traction, but I am sticking with it.
More than just your rumor. . .

According to The Athletic’s Bruce Feldman, Nicole Auerbach, Austin Meek, and Nick Kosmider, it’s a ‘done deal’ that Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh will return to the NFL if he gets a bona fide offer.
It comes just a day after a recent report from the NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, which indicated that Colts team owner Jim Irsay “has an affinity” for Harbaugh as a potential head coaching candidate this offseason

I would believe he would go to the nfl for the right team. I can’t see him accepting a job with a losing team or losing history. I doubt he would take the Lions or bears job. But if the 49ers, Denver or cowboys gave him a call, he may accept. And the nfl team would have to have the money to buy out his current contract. That would mean a team like the packers would not make him an offer.

I cannot see him leaving for a different college job!

He's already coached the 49ers. He'd never go back and the owners would never want him back.

I used the 49ers only as a name of a quality program. I doubt they are even looking at hiring a new coach.

The Panthers have supposedly been talking to him. That does not seem like a team he’d want to coach. Although he could use them as leverage to get a new deal from Michigan.

It seems like some coaches are always using the possibility of leaving as leverage to get new contracts!

So, is that tongue-in-cheek or a serious observation? I mean, how can it be a "done deal" if he doesn't have a real offer?

Who really knows but Harbaugh himself (and maybe his brother BUT NOT his brother-in-law, haha)?

Just when you thought he might be in trouble at his alma mater, he finally beats Ohio State twice, in decisive fashion......but his 1-6 bowl record is a head-scratcher, and this last CFP loss was particularly painful for the Wolverines. Now, TCU was a damn good team, but Michigan really didn't look like the same team it was during the season most of that game....even putting aside the horrendous TD overturn decision.

If he went back to the NFL? I could see why he might be intrigued in Carolina - he knows the NFC better, and that division might be even more up for grabs than the AFC South. Either way, he'll ironically have to deal with the same issue when he first went to San Francisco - an unsettled/unfinished QB situation. He does know how to build a power game roster, though.

Lastly, if he jumps - what's he going to do when he ultimately starts to burn out there......seems like he needs to do something else every 5 or so years.

I can't see him being interested in a rebuilding team like the panthers. for him to leave michigan, i have to believe he's looking for a plum job with a ready made team.

I really think the rumor someone started about him going to Indy is going to be true. Irsay never hesitates to blow a lot of money.

Look, by no means am I a Harbaugh or Michigan fan. In fact, I think he's a complete and utter douche who's completely full of himself.

But this might be the dumbest investigation on the planet when you consider other egregious violations that were completely overlooked at Kansas and Arizona (those violations should have left those schools, or at least coaches, banned for years). Or not to mention the Zion Williamson situation at Duke.

I mean, these blue blood schools had bagmen delivering money to players for years. But let's now spend our time on violations around having too many coaches on the field. WTF???

It's past time for the NCAA to go away and for the conferences to extend their own rules.

Sever his recruiting? Think about it. He can just use the portal and the NIL and not even worry about giving athletes scholarships! He can say they are walkons and give them $200k

very petty allegations in my view

Unfortunately, I believe the media has decided to exaggerate and sensationalize everything.

How about we force him to suspend one of his players for 3 minutes in some meaningless non conference game

Agree. Kids are getting solicited with six figure offers, to go from one school to another, and they’re busting Michigan for this?

As a B1G alum, I am wondering when do we as a conference tell the spineless wonders at the NCAA to go pound it ???

I too am an alum, but I don't consider the 'conference' to be the Big Ten Conference anymore. It is now an unwieldly media conglomerate with many new undesirable elements, and more on the way.

Ok I disagree, but to your point: when does this “media conglomerate” tell the irrelevant goobers in Indy to get bent?

I would agree to a point. It would appear the addition of USC and UCLA was made by the BiG 10 Network rather than by the actual BIG 10 University Presidents. It would appear the actual academic Presidents caved in to the business demands of the BIG 10 network they created! Who is in charge of our conference? The academic president? Or the media and network?

I don't know, but I would expect pretty soon since the goobers add nothing to conglomerate profits.
Let's be careful. Purdue only fields the bare minimum number of sports to still be considered D1. If the BIG ever distributes money based on the content provided we would be in trouble. Will never watch Purdue in M. soccer, M and W lacrosse or M and W hockey to name a few.

The conglomerate can change those rules and probably will, making it possible to drop non-rev sports, starting with non-team sports like golf, track, wrestling and swimming.
