Happy to hear Stephens is definitely coming back!

I saw that ex-Oregon State (and now ex-Iowa State) player Hallice Cooke is transferring there as well. I'm thinking Cooke will be granted an extra year and that he and Kendall Stephens could be Nevada's senior starting backcourt in 2017-2018.

How about Charles Matthews? 6'6" top 60 wing from Chicago just announced he's transferring from KY. We have scholly's, we're close to home, immediate PT on a quality B1G team. C'mon Matt, jump on this.

This is true BUT he will have to sit out a season. Is he good enough to be worth taking up a scholarship for the '16-'17 through '19-'20 seasons?

You make a great point. Frankly, I would be extremely caustious about picking up any ex-UK player. I just don't know how they would influence the locker room. You might be introducing a form of poison to the team. I don't know, but all kinds of red-flags go up on this one.

"cautious"

I don't necessarily agree that "all sorts of red flags" go up (not sure where you came up with that idea). I just simply have doubts about whether he will really be good enough of a player to be worth having for four more years. Many of the blue-blood signees (not all, but a lot of them) are overrated by the recruiting services and I think the amount of active fans on sites representing those programs play into those ratings.

I live in the Chicago area and I saw him play in HS a couple of times. I thought he was one of the best (if not THE best) player in the state for his class. He was stuck behind Murray last year and Cal has another wave of top tier recruits coming in. I have no idea about any potential locker room issues because I don't know the kid. I would hope if there is mutual interest, Painter would try to gauge his cultural fit. All I'm saying is that I have no doubt about his talent.

Well, it's good to have a second opinion. Do you think he's worth taking one of the scholarships from the 2017 class?

2017 class. Just not feelin the positive vibes. Really hope I'm dead wrong.

Yeah, it's certainly possible. When we've seen it happen before (certain years where people are saying such-and-such year's class can be huge for Purdue and then it doesn't come to fruition: 2011 being the best example by far of the Painter era; 2009, 2010 and 2013 to some extent as well), it's easy for doubt to creep in on CMP and the staff's ability to get their top targets. They've had some good ones, but I'm also always weary when people are clamoring for 2 or 3 open scholarships to be banked.
