We seem like we are living in the movie Groundhogs Day. This year is living up to last year all over again, except for a few different characters in the movie.
We surprised people in the beginning of the year last year. We beat teams that we were not expected to beat. We were the talk of the college basketball world. We got our first #1 ranking. We had people expecting us to be the #1 seed, get to the FF, and possibly winning it all. We played together as a team and were doing all the right things. Last year, we hit a wall in late January/early February. We lost the BT Title, BTT, and had to settle for another early exit in the Sweet 16.
Well, last year is happening again. We set the college basketball world on fire at the beginning of this year. We were ranked #1 again (twice this year though). We are now doing the same thing of hitting a wall and just looking tired and no energy. We might win the BT Title and/or BTT. However, our dreams of a FF are looking slim to none. We do not deserve a #1 seed. We cannot shoot, have horrible perimeter defense, and are getting our hustled. Teams have figured us out again, and it shows.
Painter is making no adjustments to player lineups, and forget about maybe using the Z word from time to time when our team is just leaving 3 point shooters wide open. Our shooting, except for Edey, is absolutely horrible. We have not had consistent 3 point shooters, since Cline and Edwards. I hope we can change this ship around quickly, but it is not looking good right now.
