Yea I'm trying to be funny. Another Big not yet allowed to play still. Painter continues to say he has business to to take care of, may not play this week and hoping MAYBE first reg game. Wow!

From everything I have heard or read, this sounds like something personal for ajh.

Which could mean a million things and we never will know the truth I am guessing. If it is personal then it isn't anyone's business outside of the people involved.

It's easy to think the worst, but let's not all jump off the edge :D

I'm predicting a 3 game suspension. Two exhibition games and first regular season game. Hope I'm wrong. And no, I have no information on what Painter's reason was for not playing AJ in the first exhibition, nor have I any information on the reason for Painters comments.

It seems like a grade needs to be improved in a class? Total speculation.

Grades were the first thing I thought but it seems like Painter kind of expected something to change between when it was first reported and now, and I don't see how that could be the case in this short a time span. We'll probably never know, but selfishly I just hope he gets to play Sunday because I want to see the squad at full strength.

I think sometimes we forget that AJ is what, 23?

The kid has a huge load on his shoulders as the key figure on this team that many expect to reach levels none of us have seen in our lifetime.
He is also a senior with the same issues any of us faced during our last year in college.

Add in the fact that we know AJ is the quiet type who hasn't exactly embraced the limelight.

I can only hope he pulls through and we don't make it any worse then it already is.

Probably nothing to see here.

The season is 2 days away. Let's try to be happy and enjoy it. I am sure AJ will be along for the ride.

Article on the front page hinted that it wasn't grade related.

Personally I think it is more Painter being consistent and sending a message than anything else. Which is a result of him learning his lesson after the head cases he has had to deal with before.

If AJ gets it together, he should be team MVP, & could be B1G MVP. After the second half of the B1G season last year, it looked like the sky was the limit for him. Here's praying for a great outcome for AJ & the other Boilers. Wonder if changing his major would relieve any stress from him? Having to study, train/condition, & survive in today's jungle, can be overwhelming at times [with all the presures of life]. What is AJ majoring in? Since professional basketball/NBA seems to be in his immediate future, if I were in the shoes of a high, first round NBA player, currently in college, to relieve as much stress as possible, I'd change my major to somthing like physical education, take a basket weaving & finger painting class or two.

I had to drop out of college, with one semester remaining, because my headaches, dizziness, blood presure & stress was just too much to deal with, at a critical time in my life. I believe it saved my life though. Maybe a little time away/vacation would make a big difference? Personal health comes before all else, & always should. Can't play basketball/earn a living if you're dead.

Remember the Indpls. 7' Stewart kid/recruit who was set to play at IU, about 6/7 years ago, was playing some pick-up basketball, had a heart attack & died? Sometimes a person can push his physical, mental & spiritual bounds, just a little too far, at just the wrong time, & poof, it's all over. Sometimes when your mind & body tell you to slow down, you best take a break, expectations or not. Basketball can wait, life/survival can't.

Go Boilers!!!

There is only one exhibition game.

It seemed that AJ improved when Isaac arrived last year, not certain of the reason but all of us try and take a guess at it. Now that AJ has improved, he is probably dealing with a lot of stuff that we non 7'0" don't relate to very well.

Are you calling me short? Actually, I'm sure that would be difficult. This is just theory but I think he let some assignment or class attendance requirement slip by. Some seniors who see the next plateau, and his should be lucrative, seem to think they'll make it without as much effort as is needed. I think our coach doesn't see it that way and I respect that.

maybe it is because he is always moving on his picks and gets called for a moving pick.....
Clean it up boys.....

Ha Ha....I am sure it will clean itself up soon

Hammons, for all his talent, seems oblivious to the fact this kind of stuff and his passive, at times lack of effort performances, are going to effect his wallet.
The fact he has probably been told this hundreds of times, and issues still persist don't bode well for him after Purdue.
Kudo's to Painter for doing the right thing.

Not correct term... Altitude challenged. Me ... I'm about 1 foot underheight. not over weight.

More physical going to the rim is what I hear. If so, he might push a lazy AJ for starters minutes at the 5.

It's great that a guy 7'2", & 300 lbs. can move as quickly, swiftly and much as Isaac Haas does, & still keep his feet, ankles & knees, this problem free. I'm impressed he's just able to stay as healthy & active as he does, at 300 lbs. Didn't he lose a little weight in the off season, & now weighs in a little under 300 lbs.? That couldn't hurt either. Even with a little weight loss, nobody on our schedule I know of, will push him around much. Wonder how many minutes [7-10?] he'll average in conference play this season? I guess a lot depends on AJ's & Swanigan's play.

I get your general point, but Stewart had an undetected congenital heart defect, so it really had very little to do with stress. Also. he had signed with Kentucky, not IU.

And I'm not 100% sure on this, but I think he died during a HS game in Columbus.
