Both are hot commodities right now and we have a good shot at both of them.

Dying to hear how the Haase visit at USC went...Frank Martin is a great coach and has bigtime ties to South Florida, but his visit to Purdue went very well.

Also dying to know what Ewing is going to do.....his Iowa State visit went very well, but so did his Purdue visit.

I guess we will know soon....National Signing Day is Wednesday!

Boiler Up!

How mobile is Felipe Haase? Is he a good defender? I just don't want them to add another big that significantly reduces the overall team speed. Having someone that can play in the frontcourt or paint and be fleet of foot (good shot-blocker and overall defender would be perfect) could be very beneficial: does Eden Ewing have any of those traits?

Be nice to get one of them, but not the end of the world if we don't.

Re Haase, if you are inclined to do so, you can watch Chile take on the USA in the FIBA U18 games this summer on YouTube and then you can decide for yourself.

I took your suggestion and watched the first quarter of the game. Haase reminds me of Calasan, but taller. He's a skilled, big body, but not going to beat anyone down the floor or out jump anyone for a loose ball. Looks like he has a good outside shot, spreads the floor and is a good passer. Decent box out rebounder.

A very limited dataset to make an opinion, but that's my 2 cents.

Yeah. I only watched maybe a couple minutes, but did see a nice looking shot from him at the beginning of the game.

****Update: Adam Zagoria reports:

6-10 Chilean big man Felipe Haase will announce Thursday or Friday, probably Thursday, his guardian told me. Pitt, Purdue, Mizzou, South Car
